I'm in the market for a new EDC, and am used to carrying reasonably largish knives for that purpose.

My current is the discontinued CRKT Crawford/Kasper (the large plain edge variant) and I've also carried Emerson Commanders and similar knives. My normal method of carry is in my waistband, point down.

The Zero Tolerance 0200 was recommended to me by someone on another (non-knife) board, and in researching I also saw the 0300 series. I was hoping to get some feedback from the experts on the pros and cons of these two knives.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Well, the 0300 series definately qualifies as a "largish knife." Built like a tank, I've never known them to disappoint. I suggest looking into them.

honestly they are two of my best knife choices. I'll be the first to say it. Get both!

Welcome to the forums TLG!

Pros: a bunch. Cons: none.

The biggest differences in the two are blade steel, locking system and assist. The 0200 is liner locking 154CM blade, non AO (but still very fast), 3.875" and 8.2 ounces. The 0300 is a frame locking S30V blade, SpeedSafe assisted, 3.75" and 8.6 ounces. Both are Tungsten DLC coated (very tough stuff) and are built for heavy-duty use. They are also excellent bargains at their respective prices. As for the liner lock on the 0200, it is perfectly machined and is very thick for a liner lock. I've seen frame locks that aren't as stout.

Either (or both, as suggested) is a great choice.

Did I mention they are built like tanks? :D

Just to muddy the waters a little, check out the 0500 MUDD. This folder can double as a fixed blade. There's a pass-around review thread here somewhere...Here's the link.

I have both and both are excellent knives, and as SPX said, TANKS! Of course I'll also muddy up the waters a bit and also say to give the 0500MUDD a look see, as it is actually my favorite of all three......counting the MUDD as #3!:D

Thanks for the feedback so far, all. I'm pretty certain it will be the 0200 or the 0302. So far, it doesn't sound like either one of them is the clear winner. "Buy them both" is the plan eventually.

I'd get the 0302 first, then get the 0200, but that's just me.

I've handled both, and I liked the 0302 better :)

I own the ZT0200 but I have handled the ZT0300 and honestly, you can't go wrong with either one. The 200 is a bit longer than the 300 but the 300 is wider. Also on the 300 one side is g-10 and the other side is titanium, as with the 200 both sides are g-10.

good luck :D

TLG, let me also welcome you to the forums! You'll definately find all the info you need concerning knives. Your plan to eventually buy both show great, level headed thinking, and also indicates you are on the way to knife nutdom.:D:thumbup::D
