Hey, I am deciding between the ZT 0350 and the ZT 0200. Could you give me ups and downs of both?
Also people keep saying the ZT 0350 is AO. If the ZT 0200 has a blade protrusion isn't it AO as well? Just a little confused there. Thanks

I dont think it's an assisted opener. More in tune to a flipper. That is probably my next knife. It's a sweet one. John

The 0350 is a smaller in both length and width, has flat G-10 verses 3D machined G-10 on the 0200, and is assisted opening. There is a spring in the 0350 that takes over and flings open the blde once you press the flipper so far. The 0200 does not have this spring and is only opened using the force of your finger on the flipper.

Both the 0350 and the 0200 have flippers. The difference between "assisted opening" and "AO" or "auto opening" is on an assisted opening blade is, you touch part of the blade, tang, or thumbstud to actuate the spring action and open the knife. On an auto opening knife you push a button or lever separate from the blade to automatically open the blade. Kind of a vague distiction, but it can make the difference between being legal to carry in some states.

OK, the 0350 has S30V steel, and so it will hold an edge slightly longer, but also will be harder to resharpen. the 154CM of the 0200sharpens pretty easy in comparison, but will not hold an edge quite as long. the 0350 is smaller, thinner overall, and has a thinner blade, but weighs less. the 0200 has BIG 3D machined G10 scales, which are really comfortable if you have large hands, but is thicker, wider, takes up more pocket space, and is heavier than the 0350. the thicker blade lets it take slightly more abuse, but the difference will probably be negligible. it is significantly longer than the 0350.

Overall, the steels and handles are close enough so that I would say that I would go for the 0350 if i wanted smaller and lighter, and the 0200 if i wanted longer and beefier. just my opinion.

As to assisted opening, AO is just a spring or torsion bar inside the knife that puts force on the blade when it is opened a certain amount. the protrusion is called a flipper, and it allows the user to flip the knife with their index finger. it is one of the top 3 preferred opening methods, along with the thumbstud and the spyderhole.

You are with out any doubt , going to need both, I always tell people to start with the 0200, just because it is a sweet knife and a good basic starting point with ZT. If you don't want to spend a bunch of money on knives, DO NOT BUY A ZT, because you will need them all just like the rest of us. HA.

Very true. :D

The 0200 feels so much better than the 0350 with its 3D G10 scales. The 0200 is a top shelf product. The 0350 seems a little lower end to me. The 0200 is big almost huge, so if that isn't your cup of tea go with the 0350.

I think it's official, You need both!

I really like both models (Don't have the 0350kw anymore:() People seem to prefer the 0200 over the 0350 but the 0350 is an awesome knife, no doubt about it and makes a better edc choice (If you like carrying beefier folders. I do!) They are both excellent.

I love meh 0200 also!

Man, so true. Heartbreakingly true.

I started with the 0350. Mistake. Now, I have to have a 0301.

The first ZT i bought was the 0350, but i didn't like it because the handles are too small for me even though i think that my hands are small.
I just received a 0200 yesterday and i'm really impressed with it. Although it's not assisted, the opening is really smooth- almost seem like there's ball bearings in the pivot. Im serious, it's that smooth. Also, the handles fit perfectly. I'd say go for the 0200 and you'll understand what's a heavy duty folder is all about :D

i have the 350 and the 200 the 200 is by far my favorite, the handle scales seem very thin and kinda cheap on the 350 .( cant believe i said that) but i still really like the knife

i've got a 0350 and i like it, 0200 might happen after i get the 0561, 0301, and prob another 0560/tiger stripe.......:D

Hey guys, Thanks for all the replys. I guess I'm still slightly confused with the 200. If you use the flipper will it open without you flicking your wrist at all? Or do you have to wipe your wrist to get it open? Thanks.

At first you might need to give it a little wrist motion but it will break in after time. Mine is crazy smooth to open and gives a very satisfying "clank" when the liner engages.

The 0200 is a great knife and as kershawguy said, a great place to start with the ZT brand. As it comes from the factory, it will probably open smoothly, and only get smoother from there. I've had 9 on the 0200's, but only 2 at the moment. All were very smooth out of the box. I tend to like a tighter pivot, but even after tighting, the blade still pops out with only finger strength applied, no wrist whip needed. Once you get accustomed to the flipper and the motion, I suspect you will experience the same thing.

The 200 is one of my favorite knives. The ergos on it are just phenomenal - it really does fit like a glove, and I've found myself holding it simply because it is so comfortable to hold. Little time to break in the flipper, but after that...it just doesn't get much better.
