ZT 0300 detent ball question

I have a ZT 0300 from 2006 and the detent ball is pushed back into the lockbar enough so that it is no longer riding along the tang of the blade when opening/closing. Is it possible to reset the depth of the ball with a small punch? I read a few tips about placing the lockbar on the pivot washer and using that as a depth guide, just don't know if it is possible to reset the depth the ball sits at on ZT's or if something else needs to be done.

Thought I would check before sending back to Kershaw. Thanks for any assistance.

Befor you do that I would call Kershaw and see what they say. They will probably have you send it in to them for service.

No company is going to tell you to work on your knife, they will always tell you to send it to them.

Unless the ZT is different than other knives it is just a small bearing pressed into a hole in the lockbar. I have never seen a punch small enough to fit in the hole but if you have something that will go in it from the back side it can't hurt to try pushing it out. Using a washer from the knife as a depth gauge sounds like a good idea. Give it a couple light taps and see if it moves. If not then you can always send it back to Kershaw if you can't get it fixed yourself.

That being said, are you sure the BB is pushed into the lockbar and instead has not been worn flat? I have seen where the BB is worn away from friction but not sure I have ever seen one that has been pushed further into the hole it is set in.

Thanks for the input. I did not consider that the ball might be worn away, I'll have to inspect it more closely when I pull it apart.

Yeah, not sure what I will use to tap it if I give it a try, the smallest punch I have is 1/16 and doesn't quite fit.
