It looks like im gonna be in the fortunate position that i can sell some books for good money wich gives me the oportunity to buy a quality knife. Living in Holland i cant seem to get my hands on much of the great knives that are made in the US but we do have our fair share of great knives.

Im pondering for almost two weeks now about the decision to go for the zero tolerance 0300 BW or the extrema ratio mpc. they are around the same price range. ZT 365 euro and ER 400 euro..so i think they are both quite expensive knives and that i should expect to get some real quality.

So i would like some more opinions about this choice...is it correct to say "they are both flawless knives and you should just buy the one that appeals to me fysically?"
Or is there more than meets the eye.

maybe its important to tell why i buy knives in the first place.

I buy knives from the more expensive pricerange because they give me the impression that you can realy depend on them when s**t hits the fan. But in real life i just enjoy them for being there...i cary them and take great care of them, talk about them with friends etc. i only use them for light work ( opening packages and so fort) but i dont care for a knife when it doesnt give me the "feel" of holding a life saving solidness. so i do not use them for heavy chores but i want them to be able to fullfill those chores IF needed.

so is there anyone who has an opinion on do's and donts regarding thse two knives...im not here for the attention im realy going back and forth on my decisions, looking at them on internet and just cant decide wich one to choose.

I like them both in apperance equally ...i think the thickness of the ER blade is a plus but i do not know if the locking mechanism of either one is better than the other.
I like a heavy folder that can work as a prybar as well...ive seen the ZT function just fine in that area , didnt find any hard testings of a extrema ratio pmc so far.

so im curious about your opinions...it will be the most expensive knife i have ever bought.

i do have fixed blades already thet can perform heavy duty so recommendation for those is not needed.

kind regards
robin

Go with the ZT. They're a brand I know and trust. They make great folders and have an awesome warranty. Unfortunately, I don't know all that much about ER.

Go with the ZT! Their warranty and service are among the best. Super tough knife backed by a great warranty and awesome service = winner!

okay...when 3 gold members agree on something...who am i to argue.

thanks guys..it is a beauty, especially with the black wash imo.
gonna sell the books and order the knife when closing the deal

Best of luck with everything. And please keep us updated with your first impressions, pics and thoughts after use.

Also keep in mind NetshadeX's advice. Remember that the only thing different about us gold members is that we can sell on the exchange haha!

Imo the mpc rocks. The blade and locking are insane. User it quitte a lot and still no. play or wath so ever. Have had a ZT561 which is great but silly allongside a MPC. If you want a tank of a knife...

In dutch: beste mes dat ik ooit heb gehad. Meeste Amerikanen kennen alleen zt dus vandaar de voorkeur.

I just got a ZT 0300BW today. I like it more than I thought I would. One issue for me is the coarse texture on the handle. It's going to murder my pockets.

Most users will tell you ZT because its popular in the the US and they used to be on the forum, but make no mistake
ERs are amazing.
I would take the mpc. It's much stronger; I own the fulcrum.
I used to be a gm :)

well as it turns out...i now have a zero tolerance 0560 BW...and after this weekend i will be able to order a ER mpc...so whan they are both in....ill let you guys know.
i must say i realy like this 0560...

I have a ZT 302 and ER Nemesis, not the same thing as mpc but has similar handle and the same thickness (6 mm!), ZT has a better handle in terms of ergo ( but mpc it's still good ). I don't know if mpc lock it's better than ZT, but it's plenty strong. I'm pretty sure that 300 it's a better slicer, ER knives tend to be sharpened prybars...

thats correct imo.

thats why its so perfect for me to have and experience both. i have a thing for he sharpened pry bars but is can see that their not very praktical all the time.

so having the 560 and a mpc would get every job done if the propper tools arent available.
