ZT 0301 history questions

[Mind the tip]

I have a ZT 0301 that I bought new in March of 2007, date on blade is Jan. 07. From what I’ve been able to find production started in 2006, the serial number on mine makes that seem accurate, at least in my mind.

It looks like they stopped production at some point, and then started again? So did ZT continue the serial numbering where the first run ended? Were/are there more than 2 runs? Is the only difference the markings on the blades, or were there other differences?

I tried the search but it looks like nearly everything is a for sale post or a picture post. I’m adding 2 pictures so the markings and box can be seen as I assume they may play a part in dating as far as variations or versions. I didn’t realize I had the original receipt till I opened the box tonight, that was a neat find!

I remember when I bought it going back and forth between the OD and DT, I think I’m still having that struggle But as one of my first knives I’m just curious on the history. Thanks.

Actually, you are asking several questions. I am not a ZT expert. I only know that my 562Ti is fantastic!

Indeed I am. I added the plurality. Thanks.

It’s a big knife, so it has never been in the rotation, but it’s still one of my favorites if for no other reason than it’s my second oldest knife.

Thanks, yes, I believe yours is from the (or one of the) later runs after production had ceased, and then was restarted.

The second version has a steel insert on the lock bar first couple years dont.....

Thanks, good info. Do you know the timeframes the 2 versions were made? I found an old post here where a member had one dated June of ‘06, and it was serial #49. So that seems a good start date, do you have any other info?

Not sure of the year when they started but the 560\561 had not insert in their first runs either....Miss mine.....

I sent a message through their online contact us, but no reply. That was around holidays so maybe it was missed. I’ll try them again.
