Good day everyone,
I have searched the forums and elsewhere but still don't quite have the complete understanding on how this is done exactly? (im old)
if the blade is a little off center do you just simply tighten the pivet screw a tad first or loosen the handle screws Then the pivet?

a step by step procedure would be very much appreciated. The correct way please.

Here's what I do.
I don't know if it's the "correct way" but it works for me about 95% of the time.
YMMV

With the knife closed.
I would loosen all the screws including the clip screws
Now snug down on the pivot. Not real tight, just hand tight.
I then gently, but firmly, apply pressure to each side of the knife in opposite directions.
Left side up/right side down or Left side down/right side up; while at the same time seeing what combination gives you the desired results.
While holding the right effect, start tightening screws. If the tightening of one particular screw ruins the effect. Tighten this problem screw last.
Once all screws are tight, adjust pivot.
