ZT 0350 Blade Centering Question

Hey guys,

I took down my ZT 0350 for cleaning and after reconstructing it, the blade is favoring the torsion bar side.

What are some tips or tricks to get the blade back to a good centering?

Thanks in advance,

Mitch

I had the same issue out of the box. I adjusted the pivot first. Helped center it, but it drastically reduced the ease of opening..I mean I had an assisted open knife that I quite literally needed assistance to open it! So I tried loosening up all the screws, wedging cardboard in between the blade and the liner its leaning to. Enough cardboard (or paper folded over itself) to basically keep the blade pushed against the opposite liner while you tighten the screws. I started at the pivot and worked my way down the handle. Then remove the wedge. I tightened the pivot all the way down and backed it off to my liking after removing the wedge. For me it was just a little off-center but easier open than average. I haven't played with it much since I got my Para 2, but it was more difficult to get my Para 2 centered, but once I found the sweet spot it fell dead center with no blade play and free-spinning with the lock depressed. In regards to my ZT 0350 I wish I had just sent it back to ZT to be fixed, simply because I was a little careless and stripped the heads of my screws, and then my bit slipped out while trying to remove one and chipped my g10 around the diameter of the screw hole. Just make sure to use the right size bit. And if it doesn't center up the first try..try out different torque patterns. Maybe start on handle and tighten each side in increments for example. Note: 0350 blade is definitely beefy and when centered there is very little space on both sides. Good luck. Hope it helps. I just registered and this is my first post lol.

While centering my blade I stripped the heads of my screws, then damaged one of my scales trying to get the screws out. I'm in need of replacement s. Aftermarket or original.

With the knife closed.
I would losen all the screws including the clip screws
Now snug down on the pivot. Not real tight, just hand tight.
I then gently, but firmly, apply pressure to each side of the knife in opposite directions.
Left side up/right side down or Left side down/right side up; while at the same time seeing what combination gives you the desired results.
While holding the right effect, start tightening screws. If the tightening of one particular screw ruins the effect. Tighten this problem screw last.
Once all screws are tight, adjust pivot.

Keyman,

Im in need of a set of scales for my 350 and your pic
has me curious.

can you post a side proflie of the 350 please.

Actually I did contact ZT/Kai. I'm having trouble downloading the warranty request form. I sent an email about this last night. Apparently they can email a direct download PDF or something.

I had trouble once and they let me write a note and send it in with the knife. Just be very clear with your request and include your e-mail address and phone number.

I just tried this. As hard as it was to turn these stripped screws..I did it. And I'm astonished at how well it worked. Dead center and easy pressure to open.

Centered! Now I'm happy. But screw heads look more like bowls now. I wish ZT would mail me some screws, so I don't have to send in my knife.

While I feel like I had already tried this before..I never thought to loosen the clip screws. I definitely think it made a difference as frivolous as it sounds

Yeah, that's why I mentioned it specifically.
The clip screws are easily overlooked.
Glad this method worked for you cooperwoodz.
Now, if ZT would just send you the screws.
Good luck.

Well I got a reply about my screws. To my surprise they asked for my address to ship the screws to me! That is great customer service
