I returned a nib ZT 0350 because after opening and closing the blade several times it started hanging up when starting to close. I could feel and hear slight a slight grinding when closing the blade. I did not take it apart since I was sending it back. Anyone know what causes this or had it happen a 0350 you owned? I bought a new 0350CF to replace it and like the CF scales so much better so it worked out well in the end.:D

Most likely the torsion bar rubbing against the inside of the G10 scale. Also, sometimes, you can hear it rattle if you shake the knife while the blade is open. It's not a functional problem.

If you want to get rid of the sound, a pea-sized drop of a viscous grease (eg. white lithium grease) in the torsion bar cavity on the front scale will get rid of both the rattling and the grinding sound. Just smear it along the length of torsion bar. ZT does apply grease at the factory, and usually it is enough to keep the torsion bar from rattling or making that rubbing sound against the inside of the G10 scale. When it isn't, though, it's a pretty quick "fix".

The torsion bars ca sometimes be the culprit as flarp indicated. The 0350 has been one of my favorite of the smaller ZT knives. I like the tall blade and the recurve. It isn't a combination that many people like due to the real estate it can occupy in the pocket, and the recurve is something that scares people away for some reason. It's absolutely a powerhouse of a knife and it cuts very well to boot.

Another cause could have been debris in the path of e detent ball. Sometimes grit gets in the way of the ball and it feels like a sandy crunching feel. This however is not unique to zt and many times is no fault of the maker as knives can and will get dirty.

Thanks for the replies guys, just what I was hoping to learn! So for I have a delica, mini barrage and now a 350cf and the first two feel like toys either pocketed or handling after using this ZT blade. Looking at Strider folder next but honestly don't know why because I can't foresee running into anything this ZT350 won't take care of.
