zt 0350

Just got one also. I am really liking it. Haven't sharpened it yet as it was sharp enough for me out of the box. My first recurve blade. Thumbstuds are worthless, but not needed with the assisted open feature. Very beefy and well built. Big, but carries in my pocket well. I like!

I don't think that they are thumbstuds, but rather, stop pins.

No offense Willie...but something must be wrong with yours...I don't touch the flipper on mine...smooth as butter using the studs.

just bought one, heard alot about the zt series i see why

nice knife for the money

Sig_Op congrats on the 0350. It was my first ZT. Love the flipper and the snap of the AO. Its a really great EDC.

Daniel, you're right they act as the blade stop. Plus, can be used to open the knife, too. :D

Although, I'm spoiled by the flipper.

Guess I'll have to mess with it some more. Just, for me, the ergos of where they're at seems odd. I'm used to just kinda sliding my thumb forward on a stud or hole to move the blade. On the ZT it feels like I have to move my thumb away rather than forward. Did that make sense? Just got it the other day, so not much pocket time yet though.

Messing with it here at work before anyone gets here. Still not getting the thumbstud thing. I'll stick with the flipper. Uising the stud, my thumb actually slows the blade down coming out. closed, the blade doesn't touch the liners, but it is a hair off to the side. how do I center that? Just loosen the pivot and retighten holding the blade?

I've actually own the regular s30v 0350, and fondled a bit with the limited edition one with the composite blade. They were night and they in terms of opening. I'm also with Willie on this one, I can't seem to use the thumbstuds for opening, for me the knife is flipper only. Gave it to a couple of other guys to try and again they couldn't open it with the studs either. The 0350CB is another thing. It has less retention, the assist spring is not so powerful and the knife can be opened with the studs. I'm wondering whether Kershaw changed anything during the production of the first 0350s or this difference is only in the limited edition?

I just got my first ZT, 0350 S30V, a few months ago and could not use the thumbstud either. But after some time of daily use the thumbstud works now, it is more difficult than the flipper but it is an option.

I found tip-down carry made it annoying to retrieve other items in my pocket, tip-up fixed that. Love this knife I wish I had the money for another ZT :(

I'm with you guys on the thumb stud not being great for opening. I have to flick my wrist at the same time pushing with my thumb to open it that way. The flipper on the back is perfect though, just a light touch and, bam she's ready for action. The shape of the handle is perfect for traditional grip or ice pick, either feel completely natural. The wide blade makes cutting steak a breeze. Love the knife. Will not hesitate to recommend the ZT350, great bang for your buck !!

I got one a few weeks ago and have been carrying daily since. It carries real nice, you hardly notice it in your pocket.
I have my pivot on the tighter side and have a hard time opening with the studs. However the flipper pops it right open. This really is one of the best knives available for the price.

With practice the thumb studs/ blade stops will become more natural, I had a little trouble myself. I think it was the size (or lack of size) of my hands.

As far as the centering issue goes, play with the pivot and you might be able to get it centered but depending on what you mean by:
a hair off to the side
it may be best to leave it alone.

I've had the exact same experience. I have two CBs that open just fine with the thumbstuds while the DLC coated one I handled was very difficult to open. I think the DLC coating adds just enough thickness and/or friction to cause this.

Its not the coating. I've got the s30v version in a satin finish and simply can not use the thumb studs. I've never had this happen with any other knife and it does dissapoint me a little bit. Other than that I freaking love this knife.

Does anyone that own both have any opinions as to how the S30V compares to the composite blade? I may have to get one of those as well.

OK...I take it back, I have the composite version, just "assumed" ;) the action would be exactly the same, weird.

Either way, though, I really really like mine, I wasn't a fan of my 0302 when I got it, so I sold it...it felt way too awkward compared to the BM I was used to...now the BM sits idle, and the 0350 gets all of the use.

Now my want list has the 0551 (or 0550) and an 0301 at the top, I'm digging the ZT's a lot.

I've had mine for about two weeks and has'nt left my pocket until this morning. Got a ZT0303 and now both are in rotation. The 0350 is the best bang for your buck, got mine on the sale forum NIB $85 shipped. I love BF!!

Mine came in the mail today. I bought it "gently" used, and it's in very good shape. The blade is perfect. It's a substantial knife to say the least.
