I don't want to post a link I might break some kind of rule. Looks awesome!

That looks very cool indeed. Is that your knife?
Edit: Wow, I did not think they sold them this way. I love it.

I'm guessing that knife is a run strictly for SKD. Put enough size to your order, and changes like the blade shape can happen.

their website says it is 30% lighter, and has a carbide glass breaker.

i really like the blade shape on it!

Is it just me, or does it look like Kershaw Scallion on steroids? I mean they are manufactured by Kai corporation. Somehow it immediately made me think: Scallion on steroids.

Hi Guys-

A little birdy pointed me to this thread ;)

I am not a knife expert- I know just enough about knives to be dangerous to myself, so please keep the questions to ground balls. Having said that, feel free to fire away.

Just a little bit about the 0360.skd- This is an exclusive model made for us by KAI/ZT and it involves a re-profiled blade and an emergency glass breaker. We've been carrying ZT for a while now, and we love the 0300/0350 series knives, but thought we could trim some width and weight off the blade for carry without compromising much for strength. The carbide tip was added for our many first responder customers, and as a "just in-case" for the rest of us. For those familiar with the 0350, you'll find everything else to be essentially the same.

The only correction I'd make is that the 30% reduction in weight is on the blade only, not the entire knife. It snaps to the open position smartly, and is noticeably faster to some over the 0350.

That's all I got for now. Thanks for the compliments some of you wrote on the looks!

:)

Welcome to BF! You've got a very cool variation to the standard 0350 there. Hope you sell a ton of them.

Hmmm....that looks very familiar. Can't quite put my finger on it....

thinking...thinking...

Ahh, maybe it'll come to me later.

:D

Nice mods NDJeep!
;)

We actually started discussions with Steve from ZT on customizing the 0300 series. Then, when the 0350 came out, we just had to jump tracks to that platform for the sheer utility of the size/price. We are looking to sell daily carry hard-use knives! We would rather see scratches on our models than see them pretty :)

Unlike your awesome beveled mod, we decided to keep the spine of the blade a flat grind to increase contact surface when tapping/hammering the blade through stuff. The first ZT I carried was a 0301 a few years back and I used it on a barbed wire fence repair in MT when we were without the right tools. I laid the double-strand barbed wire on top of a metal fence post and cut through it by hammering the back of the 0301 blade with a Gerber EOD tool. The blade only sustained a few very small chips and remained sharp for at least another 8 months of daily carry (and more abuse) before I sent it back to ZT for a factory re-sharpening.

It was the exceptional quality, performance and warranty service which sold us on the ZT brand and ultimately led to this custom collaboration. If you are looking for a daily beater that is somewhat similar to your custom beauty, check out the 0360.skd! :D (That was shameless, I know! Lol) While we understand that there are collectors out there interested in this model due to its custom nature and low serial numbers, we would really prefer them to find owners who are going to scratch up the blade as a daily hard-use tool while keeping it razor sharp!

If you do a custom 0350 re-grind, post it here!

Interesting back story, PW.

Yeah, Tom Krein did a great job on my 0301. There's only so many blade shapes out there and I've always liked that one. I actually got my inspiration from the Crawford Kasper which is not exact but similar.

I hadn't heard of this knife until today when I saw one posted by a member in another thread. His also had custom scales done by Dobson and it looked really nice. I'm looking forward to what colors the 0360s handles will be offered in. Do you know yet?

Obviously, I like the blade shape on the 0360.skd. I think the ZTs are just awesome but I gotta have a point on a knife. From browsing around it seems the knife is being well received by mil/LE personel.
On a side not, I just saw an episode of my favorite show, NCIS...where Tony and Gibbs sat down at the end of the show, on a couch, and starting cutting up their steaks with their ZTs. Gibbs had a tiger bladed 0302(or 0301) and Tony had a 0300. Pretty damn cool...

So, good work and I'll toss in I'd like to see another colab done by you guys or even just by KAI of a 030x version offered. In my opinion, it'd be the perfect ZT.
But if not...I'm waiting like everyone else for the home run that'll be the 0550 from Mr. Hinderer/KAI.

PW I thought I saw another variation for Viking Tactics on your website. Was that version sold out already?

PG-

Yes, unfortunately, those sold out. VTAC is deciding whether or not they want to run more- a large portion of them went to special customers and they are considering keeping it a short run to maintain the sentimental/collector value.

piggly_wiggly, is the blade thickness, spine to tip, thinner than the original blade profile as the 350 ?

Just wondering how the tip will stand up to hard use against the 350's tip.

BTW, I am anxouisly waiting on the magical 1500 mark to be reached.:D

Thanks for any information

Thanks P_W. Can't blame them for keeping it exclusive just for their special customers. That's a nice gesture.

So it’s a little tough to tell with these photos (camera phone- sorry!), but the 0350 has a bump that increases in thickness at the very tip,
which was removed with recontouring of the 0360.skd’s blade.

IMG01220.jpg

Since both blades start off with the same blank, the thickest portion of the spines are still the same thickness for everywhere but the very tip.
The 0350 spine tapers to a thinner width in the middle portion of the blade, making it less suitable for hammering when trying to drive the
blade through wood for cuts or notches (the 0350 pictured is new, the 0360.skd is used and looks like there may have been some hammering
done on the back of the blade).

Hope that helps show the differences you were wondering about? Thanks for asking!

i purchased this knife from SKD serial number 083 all i can say is i love this knife!! i've been carrying it as my edc to replace my PE paramilitary the blade opens noticeably faster than the 0350. i havn't done any real heavy duty stabbing to test the tip mainly used to open boxes and cut rope. been carrying it about two months and so far its an awesome knife.

I got Serial # 081 with the 1500 facebook fan discount. I also bought a ZT350 about the same time and I do like the ZT360 better because of the pointier blade and it does deploy faster than the 350.:)

Haven't used it for really hard use either, but it's carried everyday waiting for it's first hard use assignment.:D
