ZT 0450 Question?

I really like everything about this knife. I have asked this question in a previous thread that did not get a response. Does anyone know if the pivot of the ZT0450 has any notches on the underside to keep it from loosening over time?

Thank you guys for your time and help!

No. The industry standard is not to use the "lock washer" approach, which is terribly destructive to the titanium, but rather to use Locktite to secure the threaded parts together.

Some ZT knives have a six sided head on the non-presentation side of the pivot to keep it from rotating/loosening over time when opening the knife. This knife has a circular head on both sides of the pivot leading me to believe that it will loosen. I was asking if someone owns the knife and has taken it apart to see if the pivot (underside) has some way of keeping it from rotating/loosening.

This is correct............

Oh ok, I understand now, I cannot provide an answer though.

I can say, than on an application where the hardware isn't torqued down tight (such as pivot screws) a thread-locking compound will hold better than lock washers or the self-locking bolt pictured.

I was thinking the non-presentation side of the pivot would be round on the top side but on the underside have a shape of a six sided (nut) counter sunk into the scales however deep is necessary to keep the pivot from loosening with use/over time.

This has most likely been done before. It could be any shape on the underside of the pivot as long as it is effective, but I believe my suggestion above would be the most logical.

Does anyone own the 0450 that can check for us?

I very much appreciate everyone for the input!

My 0452 isn't like that, it's smooth on the underside. Can't imagine the 0450 would be any different.

I very much like the big brother as well, really like the CF scale. Thank you very much for the conformation on the pivot of the 0452!
Hopefully someone with the 0450 will chime in. Thanks again!

Does anyone own one and is willing to check for this? Thank you very much for your time guys!

I should be able to confirm tomorrow, but I do have the 0808 on hand whos pivot looks the same as the 0450 - polished round on presentation side. On the 0808 it is the inset hexagon shaped lug as you described.

Thank you for the reply brother! Nice to hear on the 0808. Looking forward to you checking it out. Thank you for all of your help and time!

I checked the thread with these pictures in it and it does not mention the pivot on the underside. Have you had a chance to pull the pivot and check? Thank you very much for your time and help!

I am starting to think I dont get your question, but I did take the knife apart.

The pivot consists of a polished male bolt that threads into a polished female bolt. The underside of both of these bolts was smooth. There are two bearing sleeves that give you the KVT technology. There was a good amount of loctite on the pivot assembly and I cant imagine it loosening or tightening on its own under normal circumstances.

And Jeff saves the day! Props, man.

You answered the question I had. They reverted back to the six sided non presentation side pivot on the 0808. Maybe this is for aesthetics on the knife and not necessarily for functionality. I suppose with enough Loctite the whole pivot could rotate and not come loose.

Thank you very much for the time that you took to check this out for me brother! I truly appreciate it!
