Hey guys,

I am in love with the ZT 0450. I was planning on buying it but was a little worried about the size... Can someone give me some input on this? I don't think my hands are huge but the grip seems pretty small. Anyone have a grip size problem? If so could you give me hand size? (This sounds kinda stupid but still haha) Thanks in advance!

Also, would the CF version be more fragile? I would EDC this knife everyday, I don't have any other EDC's atm. I would also bring it mountain biking with me for emergencies.

In closing, any reason I should not buy this knife?

Thanks a ton guys :)

Because of the size you'll be using the clip as a "grip" when opening the knife. Since it rests on the frame and not the lock, as long as you don't have a finger on the lock, it'll open correctly.

I've never had a problem with grip size, but you get what you expect from a knife that's supposed to be small. If any, the only problem I've had with it is how the front scale tends to be slippery in certain conditions.

Knife is a midget get the 0804! Any knife with anything CLOSE to a 7 inch OAL is a midget. klute has spoken.

I got XXL hands and it is fine for my use. It was my EDC until I got a Neon now I don't carry it at all. Mine was just used in a office/job walks. No heavy use. If your in the trades or a mechanic it may be a bit small although I never thought that. Great action as long as you don't press the lockbar when opening. Can't comment on the CF aspect as I don't own any CF knifes. If you want to buy a nice used one let me know. I believe I have the box and docs.

I have the G10 & titanium model. The grip is on the slim side which makes it great for unobtrusive pocket carry. There are trade offs with every knife. You have to decide what your most important considerations are and compromise on other aspects. That said it is one of my 3 main carry knives predicated on what I anticipate that day. The other 2 being in order of preference 1- benchmade 556-1 2- ZT 0450 3- Spyderco native 5 lt wt. I wear men's large size gloves and don't have an issue with handle size within the practical limits this knife was designed for. Bottom line is you won't know if it's right for you until you try it.

The knifecenter used to let you return a knife within 30 days for any reason, as long as it was pristine.

Not sure if they do that at present.

I have XXL hands and love my small blades.
The 0450 is drop dead gorgeous and is an easy pocket carry.
CF is very tough. If that's the version you want, get it.

I don't like frame locks on small knives. I prefer back locks or axis locks. Easier for me to manipulate. I wanted to like the 0450 but alas, it's not for me.

My favorite smalls. L-R

Good to know :) Thanks a lot guys. Anyway, what do any of you guys use a deap carry pocket clip on you 0450? If so, where can I get one? I heard you can just call/email ZT but this hasn't worked for some users recently. Also, If I buy it from Amazon will ZT still honor the purchase?

its a small knife. i have medium small hands, i wear a medium size glove, and its not idea for me. still a cool knife, but if you have a larger hand you may not like the grip. if you do less using and more fidgeting/flipping then it would be fine. it will bite you if your not doing it right. if you want a user tho, it will be better in small hands, but not useless in medium hands.

It's small in stature but big in bite with nearly a 1:1 ratio. I compare it to a leek in terms of feel in the hand. Small, thin, light, and fast. Ergos are good, fits most hands well despite its diminutive size, however those with sausage like fingers may have trouble as they can be sensitive to pressure on the lock bar when opening. For me I consider it a near perfect edc knife, in my hand it's a full three finger grip with the pinky just kinda along for the ride but ive never felt it was too small or insecure in the hand.

If you have a dealer or a cabelas close by go out one in your hand, fit is subjective. With that being said I don't think you would be disappointed if you bought one without handling first.

I in fact just yesterday received a deep carry pocket clip from ZT for my 450. They sent it to me no charge. It did how ever take a little follow up. I had called customer service perhaps 6 weeks ago where they informed me they had some discontinued non ZT marked clips available that would work on this knife. Told them that would be perfect. They said give us a couple of weeks you should receive it in mail. After 5-6 weeks I went to there web site and e-mailed customer service detailing the above. They responded a few days later said they were sorry one would be forthcoming shortly. Five days later it's in my mail box. Not perfect but not bad either especially when you consider the price of the replacement clip. As an aside if was an almost identical scenario with Benchmade.

The handle is 3" curve to curve and just over 4" overall. 3.5" from the finger guard back.

Great knife. Plenty of blade for an EDC in a lightweight, compact package. The action fires like an assisted, and my sample will drop-shot closed with a slight flick.

Consider the MXG offerings. The milled clip is a nice upgrade IMO.

I have the G10 sprint run and really like the knife. I ordered a deep carry clip from MXG Gear and it works great. Don't like the ZT on their clips so didn't consider reaching out to them on that.

I wear L to XL gloves and can get a grip on the knife no problem. I have had the issue where after harder use the lock bar has gone 100% and I have to pry it back to close. I no longer use the 450 for those tasks and it has become an office carry solution.

I'll try to do this as well, hopefully I get better luck with the timing than you do. Either way it's pretty cool that they send these clips out free of charge.

Yeah I was eying up the MXG ones but I dont really want to pay $25 and wait a week to get a pocket clip. I think I'll live with it and wait on ZT. That clip looks awesome though, flows really well with the lines of the knife.

Thanks for all the help guys :) I just ordered the Ti ZT 0450 from Amazon and got free one day shipping! It is guaranteed to be here tomorrow, I'm STOKED! I'll let you all know what I think when it arrives. Without you guys I probably would have just bought a cheap off brand flipper and been disappointed haha. Thanks again for all of the help

I got to get one of those milled clips thanks for sharing.
Also a Eagle Scout!!!

Just for reference, i wear size med gloves but can use sm or lrg ones. So very med hands and the zt fits just right. It feels like a fragile knife because its size and weight, but holds up great. 170722_103459_COLLAGE-1.jpg

its a commited grip, it will lock your hand in with small to medium size hands. The handle to blade length ratio is as small of a gap as you can get. You will probably have a hot spot with long use with larger hands toward the but end. I like mine but loved my benchmade 940. I agree that it seems to small of a knife for a frame lock. The lock also really jams in with heavy cutting, and can be a little iffy when trying to release that tension.
