Recently received a ZT 0500 MUDD folder, and noticed that there may be an issue with the pocket clip design.

The clip is attached (tip up) to one scale, and wraps around to form the clip on the outside of the opposite scale. There's a gap between the clip and the top of the knife. This gap traps pocket material, essentially trapping the knife in the pocket, making it very difficult to remove the knife.

The clip needs to sit lower on the scales, to eliminate this gap.

It's an easy DIY job, but not everyone has the tools, time or wants to fix something that could be addressed as a send-out part, with an updated clip design.

Hopefully the pic is clear enough. The gap is large enough to trap the seam of a jean pocket.

We took a look at the clip positioning and agreed it needs to be adjusted. So future 0500's will incorporate this change. Thanks dano.

To go on, this type of thread is one of the reasons why we like communicating and try to be active with the actual users of our products. When a feature and knife can be improved upon due to your all's input, we as a company benefit greatly. Thanks again for taking the time with this one dano.

Now I did see that a few guys had made the clip adjustment themselves, but if you want to send them back to us, we will take care of the issue. Please accept our apologies. FYI, 26 M.U.D.D. knives have shipped to date.

Thanks! Kershaw always is quick to address and correct as needed.

Is the change going to be to the knife, itself, or to the clip? If it is the clip, would it be possible to have an updated clip sent out?

Is the change going to be to the knife, itself...
Hi Dan, yea it looks as if the clip will simply need to be positioned lower on the scales, so, yea we will probably want to trade you out knives. Sorry again.
