I know they have been around for some time now, but I just picked up a ZT 0500 MUDD and what a beast of a folder. I really wasn't expecting it to be so robust! I purchased it because the price was really good compared to what I have been seeing. I was stunned by it's size and then how smooth it functioned. The blade shape is beautiful and just what I like. The MUDD fills my hand in comfortable and reagssuring way. The F&F appears to be flawless. I have not really had a chance to put it to task but it will be working hard over the weekend for sure! Just thought I would share my excitement and surprise regarding this BIG folder from ZT.:D:thumbup:

I'm real happy with mine but it's a bit heavy for pocket carry in hot weather.
I'll find a way to haul it around if I have a specific use for it, like my 0200.

The carry is so deep in the pocket with that clip that I put a lanyard with a big bead on it to make fishing it out easy.

I got a 0500 blem from Kershawguy several months ago - and it is a beast.

I removed the clip - I just didn't like it at all.

I have a lanyard on mine - and just in-pocket carry it when I need to do some heavy duty cutting.

I also took the scales off and gave them a little Dremel treatment - man they were sharp edged when I got the knife.

I think the handle is made from 7000 series aluminum - which is supposed to be some heavy duty stuff.

I also took it apart, re-lubed the pivot, and reassembled using loctite. Solid as a rock now.

Enjoy!

I love the way it 'swings' open when you release the lock and flip it!
the best of the ZT's if you ask me. Great grip too. Not to mention the great design by G&G

I mirror polished all the screws & front pivot disks on mine, nice contrast to all the black.

I have one, carry it often when skiing or when snow is around
it's a grat outdoor knife all year round, no problems with dirt

it's one if not my favourite folder

I gave a MUDD to a buddy of mine just before he shipped out to Afghanistan. he came back after 7 months in the desert. he had nothing but good things to say about it. he showed it to me, still with afghan dirt on it. still had a decent edge too considering he can't sharpen a knife worth a damn. now I gotta find one for myself.

The front pivot disk so brightly polished its hard to photograph...

The MUDD is a great knife. I beat the snot out of mine, and the Hawk Lock never flinched.

Too bad I lost it...:grumpy:. One day I'll find another one.

Anyone have pics of 1 taken apart with the lock exposed? Wondering how it works and what its compared to.
