I'm amazed by the level of anticipation for this ZT knife. Is it the most anxiously awaited knife ever? Can any of you long-time forumites remember other knives that were as highly anticipated or created the biggest buzz upon their arrival? Which ones came close?

Not many I suspect although several have probaly come close if not equal in the past. In the case of the 0551 for me, what really compelled me to want it so bad was the design and apparent aptitude of course but also because it was a step away from ZT's standard fare. Something about an all manual, stonewashed blade steel, Ti framelock and no recurve makes this a VERY high end knife coming from an impeccible MFG like Zero Tolerance and that is something a knife enthusiast should not pass up, at least until you can hold it and feel it before selling if one must. I am pretty certain this knife will not go anywhere when I receive it.

I have no prior knowledge of previous anticipated releases since I'm really a newbie here but I'm posting to say that I completely/100% agree with Reeek on every point he made! ..and that might be a first so I had to chime in and congratulate him on the excellent post.

I agree Reeek, the standard ZT line has been very similar and this is something different from them. ZT makes some of the toughest folders around and with them teamed up with Rick Hinderer, its going to be a bada$$ knife.

The ESEE Izula and HEST folders both have a fair sized group of people on the edge of their seats.

People were going to be crazy over the AFCK in M4, The M4 Military if I remember, I think the next knife people will be anticipating the TSEK in M390 aswell...

M4/Ti millie was pretty hyped. I personally am AS hyped about the HEST folder I have preordered... but no, I doubt any production knife has warranted as much attention. I can only imagine the attention that would be garnered by a production XM18 or XM24....

I just wanted to buy something in which Rick had something to do with its making. If I like it a lot, I'll have to consider saving up for the XM-18.

Im really excited about these two knives, especially the HEST Folder right now since its really close to being finished. I was pretty excited about the Izula folder, but I know that if it happens it will be way down the road. It seems like ESEE is busy making survival panties, arrowheads and zippo lighters right now, but hopefully they will put the Izula Folder back on the priority list sometime soon.

The Busse Folder. ;) :D

I'd love to see the Busse Folder happen someday but it doesn't look like it will be made or at least anytime soon. I know it will be super beefy and indestructable, but really doubt it will ever happen.

I would put the Busse Fusion Battle Mistress as one of, if not the most highly anticipated knife that has actually been released.

Two weeks...

Ti/RIL CPM M4 Spyderco military was up there.

Personally not a fan of the huge choil taking away edge space on the new ZT, especially with the substantial handle it already has.

I can understand the choil on a dinky little knife like the Native, not on something like that.

So this one doesn't tickle my fancy in the slightest. other than that little personal preference it looks great though.

Any Busse, Swampyard release gets alot of press just because of the way those are marketed. The HEST folder looks to be everything the ZT will be, and just as hyped throughout the interworld.

As far as in the past, Spydie Military had a huge following even before the first one hit the market, Striders on other sites get a ton of love and madness, for me the all time hype master was the Buck Master and the Lile knives of the Rambo movies.

The blade is supposedly choil free on the production models

really? okay, that thread is too huge to follow, and the only pics I saw were on the first page, and not final. Was just kind of weird to me, the knife having a large handle which already has a choil, and then the blade having a choil too...
