got myself a zt 0550 1st gen. blem from kershaw guy....awesome service Sir! thanks again.
now to set this up right, it's a weird issue, but has no bearing on being a useful knife, and it is a blem knife, so this is not complaining in anyway shape or form. planning on buying a 2nd gen one as well if they are still around...... i got a good deal....and it's a fine knife, just wondering why it does this....
so the plastic sleeve had "too light laser engraving"(i'm paraphrasing, but you get it) on it as the blem issue and the zt logo is very light. so this was the blem on it....cause it was marked as such.
the detent is super strong.....so it requires a lower grip and more of a direct upward push to open the knife even with all fingers and pressure off the lock bar. no big deal there.....here is the weird part.......but when the knife opens the lock bar pushes across as it should, and then it pops back slightly and makes a "zing".
what's weird about it is that it has enough bend in the lock bar to push further into the locking position on it's own.....but then rather than having a sticky lock problem some complain about with frame locks....this one the bar actually pops back a bit on it's own without being touched, and i know this cause i opened many different ways to make sure no fingers or hand pieces were touching the entire lock bar setup.
i do not flick open knives, and this occurs every time, on very slow opening and more normal opening....and normal to me is not whipping it open.
to clarify the lock bar is still engaged after popping backwards, and there is really no blade play....and i feel it's works properly and is completely safe....just weird. it's a user i bought it to use it and wear it out.....so no regrets, just wondering what is going on that it has enough bend to push further into the lock position but then counteracts itself and pulls back?
any insight? thanks in advance.......
