Hi Guys, hope you are all well.

I have a slight problem with my 0550. There is a tiny amount of side to side play that I only noticed recently. When I tried to tighten it up I ended up "twisting" my torx bit. On closer inspection it appears as though the screw tightens all the way down onto the top surface of the pivot barrel and cannot tighten any more, whilst still leaving some play. (I hope this makes sense)

Has anybody else had a similar issue? Is this buy design or just a quirk of my particular sample.

Thanks
Chris

It happens, if it is a major concern sending it into ZT will probably get the issue corrected for you. I've had folders that actually still have blade play even with the pivot tightened all the way (it was a different brand though). I make it a point to not be too picky, but somethings are just not to my liking and should not be there.

Thanks Devil. Yeah, this one is tightened all the way. They play is nothing major, I'll deal with it. I live in South Africa, so shipping back to ZT will be a PITA ;-)

Put a little rubber o ring from the hardware store on the screw first then install it. This will allow you to fix that problem.

thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll try out the o ring idea and let you know if it works.

You sould email ZT and see if you can get some spare fasteners from them just to have as spares. You never know when you might need a screw or something, and you can have them at the ready.

That is a good idea, it might just do the trick. Good thinking.

Anytime I get a ZT or Kershaw, I usually email them for some extra parts just to have handy. They don't mind supporting their customers and I obviously don't mind supporting them!

Hey BellaBlades. This worked liked a charm! I have an old CRKT M16 with a dangerously worn liner, so much so that I never carry it anymore. After reading your suggestion I remembered that the M16 has a rubber O ring. It fits PERFECTLY on the 0550, so problem solved. Thanks

Awesome, I am so happy to hear that. Enjoy your ZT again buddy. Nothing like getting things back to working order.
Matt
