ZT 0550 Gen 2, have you found a custom scale that is more ergonomic?

I am thinking about changing the scales on my ZT550 gen 2. I love the knife but I am not crazy about the looks or feel of the scales. I would like to get something that would be an improvement in the looks department (and most anything would be) but I would also like the scales to be grippy and more ergonomic. I am wondering if any of you have changed over to something that you feel made a big improvement. Wondering if something more rounded would be better or if it the knife them becomes too bulky. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Ergonomics of the knife would entail changing the handle shape, not the G10 scale. The knife feels good in the hand, no hot spots in my view. Changing the scale won't improve the ergonomics of the knife. It's either for you or not from the moment it omes out of the box.

What I am thinking is that some of the custom scales that I have seen have been more rounded and contoured on the profile, there is nothing wrong with the shape of the handle it is just blocky feeling.

Old thread, but I'm going to bump it. I like my 550, but echo DRK in that the scales are a bit blocky-I'm looking for something lower profile. I carry R front pocket and cannot get into pocket without catching the back of my hand on the corner.

Lately it has been my EDC in cargo pants. When I need to pocket carry, been using BM mini barrage.

Take the handle off and add more bevel to the whole handle. With a router/table or if you only have sand paper work it for a while and remove the hot spots.

The feeling or shape of the knife ranging from blocky to "normal" is relative. It is a thick handled knife, no mistake about it. The size of your pants/pockets also has a lot to do with it. Not all pants are designed the same. Personally, I don't like pants with slanted openings on the pockets (cargo style), all my stuff falls out the pockets the moment I sit down. Any knife will feel awkward given the angle as well. The same goes for the depth. Some folks like wearing skinny jeans with tiny pockets that barely qualify as such.

Short of nilling/grinding away material from the Ti side, it's not going to change by simply adding a thinner scale.

Good points all, thanks. I am going to try to round off the edges a bit more on the scale. I held a friend's knife of similar size with a Ti/Ti scale, it seemed a lot smoother in my pocket.

I am also realizing there is no ideal edc knife for every situation.
