I rather not put my lanyard through the full frame of the knife and I rather not use a standoff. If I use the top standoff the lanyard can turn up into the blade area unless it has a big knot tied up against it. I also want the lanyard to be on the angled part of the frame and utilize the proper location . Mostly I didn't want to cover up a nice looking standoff. I came up with this today on my 0550.

Very nice, that is an excellent idea.

One of these days I want to get a metal lathe.
I do have a wood mini lathe and may give this a try with some ebony or cocobolo offcuts.

If my pin was drilled through the center, I could probably utilize a lanyard in both directions......fuel for thought. I would have done it if it was a larger hole to begin with.

You mean like a Chris Reeve lanyard post?

No........I was thinking the long way, hollow out the pin. This way the lanyard could be used in both directions . Through the pin and the frame...or just go around the pin. I looked up the Chris Reeve lanyard pin, that to me looks excellent, I've never seen that before. You could just send the para cord through the hole on that and just mushroom out the end of the cord so it doesn't pull through. Thanks for informing me on this design Kowan. Good stuff.

You could use gutted 550 or 450 para-cord to keep the hole a small enough diameter to work on your pin I'd bet.
Use a strand of the gutting to snake the gutted 550 or 450 through the hole.
