Yes, my new ZT 0550 gen3 had a screw fall out the other night after opening and closing it repeatedly. The screw for the hardened steel insert on the lockbar fell out. Luckily I found the screw :) don't they put loctite on the screws at the factory? I did after this incident...

Judging from your title, I imagined something a lot worse.

I'm glad you found your screw. As for Loctite, that's a slippery slope. You'd be surprised how many people complained about KAI's use of Loctite the past year and a half.

It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. Hope you enjoy the hell out of the knife.

The lockbar insert I believe is supposed to be pressed in as well as screwed in. I'm interested in more clarification on the repeated opening and closing aspect as well.

So the knife didn't fall apart. One screw came out. You may want to edit that title. The way it is sounds quite salacious. Glad you fixed it. Hope you can now enjoy your knife. I love my Gen2 550!

Don't get me wrong I love the knife and the brand! I just think they should make sure those little screws don't get lost...loctite is cheap. This thread is just a friendly heads up...if you have one of these knives make sure your screws are tight!
It fell out after a few days of opening and closing repeatedly whenever I stepped outside for a smoke. Had to train my thumb and adjust my grip to open this beast.

Fixed! Thanks for bringing it to my attention, after rereading it did sound really bad lol.

I'm proud of you for learning proper technique! Way to stick to it, brother. A lot of people think the knife is defective because they can't open it correctly.

No worries. It is a great knife. Now all you need are some pictures of it to share!

I have disassembled my 0801 many times including removing the lock insert which is very similar to the 0550's. It isn't pressed in, but has very tight tolerances for the pin and detent "post". I have never had an issue with the insert's screw coming loose, the pin and the cut-out at the lock face are supposed to take any load on the insert.
