Lately, I have decided that I need a new EDC. Lately, I just carried a Benchmade mini-grip but decided that it's time for a upgrade. The 0560 is a tad bit too big for me much like the Para 2, but I like the small blade length in these two knives. Steel wise, I know the 0566 wins with its Elmax over the S35V. From what I can tell on Shotshow videos, the 0566 seems like a solid knife. Do you guys have any opinions?

The 0556 is not out yet so opinions will be very limited.

What about from what we can tell from videos and photos? I really value your guys expertise and experience.

Dam right I beat you Rycen lol...

I would suggest the Kershaw Knockout, Kershaw Piston and the Shallot. All great knives

I handled a piston and a knockout the other day for the first time... Wow, super liht and thin.

But as far as good edc size, if the para is too big the rest will be as well.

If your looking for something with a frame lock and better steel but smaller, check out the Southard, techno, or maybe even a Benchmade MPR.

Chances are the 566 won't be out until close to the end of the year so if you are looking for an upgrade soon go with the 550, it's amazing. If the knife is going to be a user hit up kershawguy about a blem. Then you can save and pick up a 566 later if you like.

I have a Knockout and I love it. It is super thin and very light for an all metal knife. I just ordered a Piston, and I am really looking forward to it!

If the para 2 is too big then the 0550 will be also.

No doubt the 550 is way to thick I was way excited to get one. I sold it a week later not that it's not quality because it is.
It's just thick heavy and carried that way.

If you like the size of the Mini-Grip, you might look into the Leek or Zing. Damascus versions of these two are coming soon.

The 0566 was going to be closer in size to the 0550, I think. The 0550 and PM2 are roughly the same size.

Although we don't know exactly what the 566 will weigh I figured that if it has the same skeletonizing and milling as the 56x it will weigh a little more than 7 ozs. That's about an ounce more than the 55x. I suppose they could mill out more than the 56x, but that seemed pretty aggressive and the steel just weighs more. I don't know, but I'm sort of leaning toward either the 550 or the Southard as a slightly smaller EDC than the 561 I now have. As far as weight, though, the Southard wins hands down. It's also not as ugly as the regular Spydercos because it's a flipper so you don't have that big boomerang bump.

Update: I just remembered, I don't think the Southard is made in the US though. Oh well, being indecisive has it's benefits too, I guess.
