Received my ZT 0550 about a week ago. Serial 0287. It has already developed vertical blade play, very disappointing. No side to side play whatsoever. I'm sure ZT warranty dept. will help me out. Will be sending it out this coming week.

How much play? i also just recieved mine (#0289)and i have a slight vertical play. i only notice it if i clamp onto the knife and use a decent amount of force pushing the blade back and forth. I dont think alot of people would have noticed but still it isnt rock solid. I cant decide if it is worth sending back or not, i really dont want to be without for any length of time. Let me know how you end up.

Might want to give it a chance to wear in a bit.

My first opening had it when I checked every aspect of the knife. I found it right away it was very slight though. My first thought was thats its unaccpetable and I am sending it back in. A couple of more openings later and obsessing about it I cant seem to find it anymore. I don't know why or how but it seems to have settled in and I am extremely happy with it now.

I've played with the knife alot the past 2 weeks. Even took the knife apart and cleaned it good and still no luck. It's like a Strider with the lock rock. I just couldn't handle paying that much and getting a CRKT Ripple from walmart that locks up like a bank vault. Sent it out this morning. I'll keep you all posted.

Give the stop pins some time to settle in before thinking about sending it in.

The lockbar probably hasn't shifted to it's final resting spot (at least for a long time) yet.

Striders behave the same way out of the box sometimes except with side to side play in my experience and everything comes out totally fine.

Otherwise I'd love to hear another Kershaw customer service success story in progress :)

My 551 just developed some (very slight) blade play after about a month of use. I'll send it in eventually, but let us know how it works out (I assume that the warranty will cover 'wear', if I leave things for a while?).

Just checked my 0550 (#0401) and it has a rock solid lock up. No play at all. I'd call kershaw and see what they say.

I just checked my 551 and it has some slight up and down play. Enough to click when I wiggle it. Side to side it is rock solid. Weird, this is the first knife I have ever noticed up and down play on (side to side is pretty common though). Well, unfortunately, I am in the UK, so its a bit risky to return it for warranty, the customs fees could cost as much as the knife did...:(

take the knife apart and bend the lock bar in gentley to create more tension.

Already tried this fix, and the one where you loosen the screws and try to tweak the Ti side and G-10 side to lock-up better. It's in Kershaw's hands now. They've had it for two days now. :D

Cool, I'm sure they will bend the lock bar properly for you.
