ZT 0551 black clip compatible with other ZTs?

So I love the 0551, but the silver clip really stands out against dark wool trousers in the office.

Is there a black clip available for it, or one that I could buy from the ZT parts department that would fit it?

I really don't want to have to paint the clip -- inevitably, the paint scuffs off easily.

As a final option, is there anyone here that can recommend someone to DLC or gunkote it black?

Most of the ZT clips are the same. If you send them a e-mail, they might be able to take care of you. i bet they will figure something out.
 
I actually had a ZT 0551 arrive from a retailer without any clip at all. Bizarre, huh? The KAI customer service folks were just as surprised as I was but, being awesome as usual, they immediately sent out a replacement. In fact, even though I just asked for the standard silver one, they also threw in a black one that's the exact same shape.

So there are black clips available for the 0551, and I'm sure KAI will be more than happy to send one to you. (Even if you offer to buy it, I bet they'll refuse to accept any payment for it.)

My 551 arrived with screws to short for the pocket clip so I can't reverse it to left hand carry till they send me new ones :(
 
Well, I called and talk to the ZT folks -- both someone in sales and someone in parts, and they insisted, very strongly, that ALL the ZT clip holes and screws are completely custom to each knife and NO clip could EVER be interchangeable with any other ZT knife.

Which is why I asked the intelligent and, well, frankly, more experienced BFC membership. ;)

If I just ask for a replacement 0200 clip, for example, that might work. ;)

I tried both the black and the silver clips KAI sent to make sure they fit (they both did), but decided to go with the regular silver one. So I actually have a black clip that will definitely fit the 0551 sitting around unused. If you want my extra black clip, just drop me an email (click on my username and select "send email to..") letting me know where to mail it.
 
sorry to be off topic, but are there any stores that currently have this zt 0551 available for sale?
 
Theres a few for sale at the moment though I cant say where it would be deal spotting. Check the dealers for sale forum here.
 
Agreed -- the dealers here have them coming in and out of stock, it seems.

You have to be fast though -- they're usually sold out within a day of the news being posted. Either that, or get on their list. :)

Yeah that doesn't pan out with my own experiences. I've got a black one and it fit just fine on my 0551 and the silver one fit on the knife the black one came off of.
