Tell me what you think about this... I laser engraved my 0551 pocket clip today. I just wanted to try something different. I kept adjusting the settings until I got the color and texture to how I like it. Final product is a bronze color. Sorry for the crappy iPhone pic.
 
That is AMAZING. If I sent one of my clips to you, how much would you charge to give it a finish somewhat like that? Can you get different colors or a raised finish? Is this a personal machine or a work machine?
 
I am lucky to have a laser engraver at my work, I'm not to sure about modifying other people's stuff especially their expensive knives. My boss might not like that much either. As far as the different colors it really depends on the material. I used the same setting on a scrap piece of steel and it came out bluish bronze. So I think the make up of elements in the steel plays a huge factor in determining the color. I can do a lot of patterns and the more powerful you set the laser, the more texture it gives the surface almost like a chalky 3-dementional feel. That however just usually turns basic stainless steel a deep black color.

Just clips, I find coloration fascinating (anodizing, lazering, heating, anything) If you feel cool about it, I'd love to send over some ZT clips for you to mess around with. If not, no worries :) I think it's pretty cool that you can do all of that with just a laser.
 
Nice. Dresses it up pretty good.

I think I'll have to pass on your offer for now. If I talk to my boss and things change I will let you know ASAP. I find it pretty interesting myself, the settings and different things you can do on a laser engraver are pretty much endless. I have been engraving for a while now and really enjoy it.
