I was just wondering if anyone took care of this on their own or if everyone sent it back to kershaw to fix? I should have mine in the mail tomorrow and I know it has the rust issue, the seller was honest about it, after waiting soooo long for this knife I'm gonna hate to part with it right away. Just wonder what method you guys used if you fixed it yourself, or if I'd just be best off sending it in.

Hi Jason -

My knife had some discoloration on the liner that I removed with #1000 sandpaper. Not an issue for even one second.

I spent about 5 minutes on the buffing wheels with two different grades of compound. Now it has sort of a polished orange peel texture on the liners, but the finish is fine enough that further rust is no longer an issue.

i removed the rust on my own, both liners, both sides.

a little paper and a little polish.

I used wet-dry sandpaper and went from 300 or 400 progressively up to 1000 or so. Take apart and reassembly are easy if you've got the right size Torx: 6, 8, and 10. Maybe some folks that sent theirs in will chime-in.

Send it to Jeff Forbush for Ceracoat and it will never have corrosion. He did mine and it is really nice. OD Green ceracoat on all the metal parts except the blade. The transaction was professional and I would definitely do business with Jeff again.

This is Jeff's pic but I do not think he will mind

I cleaned mine up myself. A bit of sandpaper, a bit of polish, a WD-40 bath, air dry, back on the knife. Haven't had an issue since. Took about 12 minutes.
