Hi, so I got a new zt 0551 about a week ago and have been loving it. It had a tiny bit of lock rock so I decided to try extending the lockbar to the right after disassembling it to try and remedy this, when I put it back together it was much stiffer and the bladeplay in all directions was worse...So I tried extending it back the other way without taking it apart and still, its worse than before...Its stiffer, has blade play, less fresh detent and Im so pissed at myself...Before I took it apart, everything was so silky smooth, the blade would practically fall in the handle and now it is so stiff and has even more play than before.....Do you think it has something to do with the fact that I cleaned out the grease and dirt and stuff inside and put some tuf-glide on instead? (which is a much thinner substance) Or do the washers have a specific orientation they need to go in as? I put them on the right sides but one side of each washer was dull and a bit banged up and the other was more smooth, does it matter if the dull or smooth side is the one facing the tang? I really dont want to send this back to kai because I live in Canada and do they even still warranty knives that have been taken apart?

Please help me remedy this,
Anthony

have you tried polishing the washers and contact area around the pivot with some high-grit sandpaper? Check to make sure that everything is seated properly before you tighten everything.

Everything is seated properly, the blade is centred, it has a bit of wiggle but it was like that before, action is smooth but very stiff. I dont know why I would have to polish anything inside, I put it together the same way it was so it should function the way it did before but it doesn't

Check the washers for a bend or burr.

It seems to be a tiny bit warped but it could very well be a trick of the eye and one seems to have a bit o a burr on the inner circle

Thanks for all the help. I took it apart, buffed the washers as well as I could with a microfiber cloth, used a bit of heavy grease on the detent path/pivot, put it together, added a few drops of tuf glide and voila. Now its smooth and locks up great  Still want to try some of that sentry solutions hi-slip tho :)
