I'm looking at the ZT 0560 Black wash. I'm seeing two slightly different versions online. In one version the lock bar stabilizer, on the titanium side of the handle, is black. and in others the stabilizer appears to be regular stainless steel in finish. Does anyone know the difference between these two minor variations? I would prefer to get the one with the black stabilizer, but now sure how to get that one.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or comments.

That's one I've looked at. It has the black lock bar stabilizer I'm looking for. some photos have it black and some in ss. Trying to find out what the difference is so that I make sure I get the one I want.

Thanks for your reply.

I just did a quick Google image search for "Zero Tolerance 0560 Blackwash" and here's what I think:

I think you might be confusing the blackwash version for the black coated version.
Every pic I see of the actual "Blackwash" blade style has the black / dark Ti frame. The only ones I see that have the silver / lighter Ti frame are the ones with the pure black coated blade.

I'm sure you know the difference between the "blackwash" and the "black coated", yeah?

hope that helps

If I'm way off base, post some pics of what you're seeing.

I don't think so. I'm specifically attracted to the "Blackwash" version, not the "Black" version. check out this youtube review to see an example of the 0560 BW with the Stainless Steel lock bar stabilizer. Thanks for your reply.

I have only seen the stainless ones in actual photos of the knife. Looks like most of the ones with the black one are using stock photos. Could be that the stock photos are from an earlier rendering of the knife and it has since changed from black to stainless. Never really paid attention to the button cause it's the first thing I change on my ZTs.

Gotcha, I misunderstood, I thought you meant the frame itself, not the lock bar stabilizer.

My mistake.

I see what you mean though, and I have no idea why the difference. Maybe a "gen 1" Vs "gen 2" production type thing?

You may well be right about that. Thanks for your response. DH

I think you may also be right about earlier vs. later versions. Thanks again for your reply. DH

I don't know which serial numbers constitute Gen1 and Gen2 but I've got SN1222 and it came from the factory with the silver lockbar stabilizer. Blackwash blade is outstanding. Get one- you won't regret it.

I do plan on getting one soon. These very forums convinced me to go 0560 over 0550.
Plus I held both recently, and yeah, the 0560 speaks to me.

Thanks for the serial number info. I think I'm definitely going to get one. I love the Blackwash effect on the blade and the titanium handle. DH

I saw an Amazon review that is either disappointing or total lies. It is as follows:

Zero tolerance has down graded this product. They are no longer machining the lightening pockets into the titanium lock side as they are Still advertising. I contacted Zero Tolerance and they reserved the right to change their manufacturing but not their add copy when ever they see fit. So the knife is heavier and plainer looking. The lock is a little over center. I had to chase the threads and buy my own screws( theirs are a bit short) to move the clip to the left.
On the good side, the Blackwash is beautiful and after using, dropping on concrete and sharpening, seems really tough. It flips perfectly. Thanks to the 3D machining (on the outside) and design it's very comfortable in the hand and inside the pants. Also, though they had no good answer for downgrading the detail on this knife, their response to a repair was super fast and free.

Any ideas....? I just ordered one, and if this is true, I'm gonna be *quite* disappointed.
The texture on the lock side was a big factor in why I went with the 0560 over the 0550...

The exterior is still 3D machined. The interior of the lock side may or may not have areas milled out for weight reduction. If I remember correctly my 0560BW is not and while the slight extra weight is detectable when comparing it back to back to my early 0560 it is a non-issue really.
