I thought these were limited to 1000 pieces...

Anybody knows what's going on?

They make a number of extras to account for shrinkage.

The actual number can vary up or down based on how much scrap is in the run.

There is never a guarantee that there will be exactly x number of knives.

Ok. So they make it limited and then they make extras...

If some didn't pass the QC, would it be better to just blemish them and reuse their serial number so at least it wouldn't exceed 1000?

I personally don't think it matters, it's just interesting trivia to me. I can't remember seeing any guarantee as to the total number produced.

Additionally, it will not impact the desirability or value of the knife.

Congrats on #1002!

I saw a quote from another forum that the total was actually around 950 that passed QC and went out but the serial numbers go into the 1100 range I think

If someone orders a run of 1000 that is how many they need to recieve, not 950 and 50 blems. Some of the orders go to big distributors. I have no knowledge about these, or ZT's policy but I know about a little about ordering products and paying for the orders.

Absolutely. This was not for one customer, ZT made a special run of these, and they went out to many retailers, not just one.

When in doubt, call KAI and ask them. Get the answer you need straight from the horse's mouth.

When they say they will make 1000, sometimes it will be more and sometimes less. If you look at past runs, the numbers can vary a lot, the Volt, S60V Blur. Etc.
