Just waiting for this astonishing knife.
Anyone could please chime in about the HRC of its Elmax blade steel?
In the catalog ZT says Elmax stands in the 58-62 range, which makes a LOT of difference :(

Thanks in advance

The only one I've known to be tested afterwards was my friend's 0561. It was tested at 60.9 I remember.

sounds right, not many ppl measure that sorta stuff, and it will vary blade to blade based on heat treatment. Its not really an exact science, more of an art as far as im concerned

all i can say is it holds an edge i been using my 560 at work for a week solid and it still hair popping sharp. my s30 350 made it 3 working days before it needed a stropping and it acutally turned out edge was chipped up pretty bad

It is no surprise that S35VN is a no go.
Bohler-Uddeholm Elmax (and M390) hold a real advantage on their competitors at same HRC levels, being 3rd generation PM steels, with very fine carbide distribution. Not only they hold an edge better, but if you heat treat them properly, both steels will achieve amazing edge holding and toughness as well (giving up to some stain resistance, admittedly, as yuo'll exploit secondary hardening). M390 needs more attention to avoid decarburization yet nothing to worry about as a nu foil will do the trick.
These steels can really deliver more wear resistant MC type carbides whilst minimizing M7C3 softer carbides content, yet without facing chipping problems.
I've cooperated actively with Elliot Williamson himself to achieve this ;)
