ZT 0560 lock bar

I recently bought a Zero Tolerance 0560 to add to my ZT knife collection. Everything was perfect out of box until a week later of cutting open boxes at work, the blade has only a slight vertical rock - but is solid side to side. The lock up is only about 20%. So my question is should I allow the knife to break in more, or should I get it carbonized, or should I send it back to ZT???

If the detent is soft it might need the lock bar bent to give it some more inward pressure. This will make your lock engage more and could make it stick, it is bent over too far.

It might wear in....my Buck Mayo TNT was like this and it just got worse, until the lock bar was adjusted.:) It is kind of hard to get the lock perfectly the same time after time. If you just take a framelock apart and put it back together the lock up can change quite a bit, as can the blade centering.

I worked over my 0550 today. Polished and rounded the edges on the G-10 scale. Just takes a little time to get everything back just like it should be.

Give it time, if you can bare it.
You can always contact ZT later.

If the lock doesn't fail (gotta test it ;)), lock rock is just a very minor nuisance imo.

Well I am going to call zt the next time I am off because the lock bar flexs under light pressure. And the lock rock is unbareable. I like zt as a company I have a few off there knives but sadly this one is not the best one I ever seen.

my 0550 does this and while i don't feel it's unsafe per say it's highly distracting and annoying.....mine is a blem though so no going back. mine was bought as a user, and that's what i'm doing...but it's not gonna break in, without me having to take it apart and bending the lock bar over to have it engage properly. one of these days i'll do it until then it still cuts fine enough.

It's a touchy beast. I have three of the. And all of them have a different detent tension and feel. A different locking percentage and sometimes stick and sometimes don't.
Me being a perfectionist, this inconsistency really really annoys me.

I just got back one of my zt560 I sent in for a way too strong dentent and they weren't able to do anything for it after having it for over a month. And when I got it back the lock was/is now sticky.

Sooo I got out my dremel with a diamond bit. Put it on the lowest of setting and slowly rounded the hole for the detent ball in the blade. I took it apart, worked it a little at a time, reassembled the knife and tried it out. After about 4-5 disassembles and reassembles I had it perfect.

I haven't worked the lock stickiness yet. I'm thinking of sending it out to be carbidized.
