everyone has been comparing the 0560 to the xm-18 and the xm-24. unfortunately i am not in the price range for a hinderer, but i am for a strider. So i decided to come to the forms and ask what you all think would be a better purchase. The 0561 to be exact, or the strider sng or pt if available.

thanks a lot,

the new guy

The price difference between a Zero Tolerance 560 and SNG are quite a jump. I'd say a better choice for comparison to the 560 would be an SMF since they're both closer to size/weight with one an other.

The 560 is an incredible knife that is priced perfectly, with quality that is tuff to beat in the price range it sits at. I'd say its one of the most successful selling 260$ production knives out there, and that's hard to accomplish since its starts getting hard to sell production knives after 200$ mark.

Now with that all said, some people think the 560 is just as solid, if not a better knife quality wise than the Strider SNG. I personally love the SNG and think its worth the 150$ jump! The SNG's ergos are second to none for me, and it can be put through hell and still chug along no problem :D!

If you can, try to handle both and see which one you prefer. Overall I suspect you might be getting a little more bang for you buck with the 560, but I'd probably get the Strider because I love it that much. Of coarse this is all IMHO!

They are both incredible. If I were you I'd go with the 560, I have one and LOVE it. The action is crazy smooth, and it carries very well in pocket due to the contouring (like a strider cc). The blade steel is also superior to a normal strider. With that said, striders are awesome, I just think a 560 will serve you very well, and is cheaper.

I've had the 0560 and the 0561, and currently own a Strider SNG. To be honest I would say fit and finish.... the ZT is a LOT better. A ZT is like that perfect girl who is pretty, not a damn thing wrong with her, and the type you can bring home to introduce to your parents. The Strider is more of that slutty girlfriend that likes to wear clothes with her boobs hanging out, high maintenance and acts like a bitch.

I don't know about you, but I prefer the latter type of girl. That's why I sold off my ZT's and kept my Strider. If you're weird like me you'll like the Strider, but if you're a straight shooter and want the best knife for your money, get the ZT.

I don't think your going to get a better analysis than that.

Hahaha I loved your comment The Logical One... I was totally not expecting your decision in the second paragraph.

I'd go for the ZT, since all the Striders I've handled haven't impressed me at all. Fit and finish have always been iffy,
but that doesn't say anything about all the Striders that are good. I've just seen too many bad ones to wanna waste my time with them.

Well, the problem is now that Strider has upped their quality the knife is now more akin to a slutty girlfriend who is the CEO of a fortune 400.

Strider.
I don't believe the Strider folder design can be improved upon.

I've heard this statement over and over again and it doesn't make sense. How many generations of the SnG/SMF are there???

My point is there is always room to change/improve no matter what.

(Lycosa, this is not directed at you specifically)

To answer the OP's question, ZT everyday.

I think he was referring to the design specifically, which has never changed over the 7 generations of the knife.

ZT 0560 is probably the best value for money knife out there. Doesn't matter what you compare it to.

what about the zt or the micro tech socom elite?/ delta

If you get the Socom Delta you are going to need some kind of special screwdriver to take it apart, so there is one point for the 0560. But going back to the main question Strider or ZT, if you want something that is a tank and can take just about anything you can put it up to the Strider is your bet. I have not had any experience with the 0560 yet but I plan on ordering one in a week or so. What I have heard about the 0560 is that it is perfect and a great blade but when I get mine I will be able to judge that.

Personally, I would sooner compare the 560 to an SMF than an SNG. The 560 is a BIG knife. It carries like a smaller knife given how light it is, but it is still quite large...

I have 4 SMF, an AR, and ZT 0560/61. I love them all. The ZT is a higher value knife. It's well made w/best materials, the price is good considering construction. Striders are my favorite knives, but the rational decision would be for the ZT. Of course we all know that rational thinking has very little to do w/why we buy our blades, I make completely irrational decisions all the time when it comes to knives.

I prefer Strider. Held off on the ZT after holding it. But it comes down to preference in design since they're two completely different knives in terms of design. They will feel very different. I like how my SnG feels.

I have a 0551 so I can talk about that. I've a few SMFs pass through my hands, only have one left now. Its a cool design, but for the dough, the ZT is hard to beat. The steel especially puts it into a really high value league in my books. I've had two 0551's, sold the first one. This one I have now, its a keeper. Really solid knife.

I also have the MT SOCOM Delta. I got it because the first run were in CTS-204p and I like to collect exotic steels. Its a nice knife - very well made - but I'm not sure if its worth the asking price. There is no way I'd pay the asking if it was just regular steel, let me put it that way.
