Looks great! I am contemplating having a wood scale made for my 0550. I think it makes it a little less scary and who doesn't like the look of some desert ironwood, curly koa or maple burl, etc.??

I agree. It gives it more of a "classier" gentleman's look and not so aggressive. Nice change-up.

Beautiful! Is that rosewood? Just finished with some oil or are you going to seal it with varnish or something?
Does the untextured front scale feel odd with the heavily textured Ti lock side?

doh! I think Bad_juju has it. Looking more closely it looks like it noise in the image and not as tight of grain as the rosewood I've seen and is oak or similar stained to a reddish brown.
Unless I was right the first time, then I reserve the right to withdraw this and always be correct :) I'm always right, just ask any woman I've ever known!

OP, pop in and let us know please.

To be honest I have no idea. I got the piece of wood from an estate action. It was part of a larger wooden box which I refurbished into my knife case. The wood isn't stained at all and is red like that all the way through. I really don't know anything about wood so I am guessing it is rosewood?

Picture of my knife case I refurbished. I wish I had taken some before and after pics so you could see how much work I put into it and the transformation.

Really nice collection and really nice case.

Is that a Philip Dobson tulipwood 0350 in there? Behind the Rogue.

Certainly adds a bit of warmth to the knife for sure. Lots of different wood out there to really make the grain pop.

Yes, I agree, but I prefer it because it is also made from the same piece of wood that my case is made from. Kind of a full circle thing. :-D

Very nice job on the scales. Cool looking knife case as well. Thanks so much for sharing.

That's what I was thinking. Makes it even more cooler.
What tools did you use to make it?
