So I just bought a ZT0560 on the exchange and was doing some you tube surfing and came across a video of a Zt that the lock bar would fail from just hand strength. Was there a certain batch or year they had problems or was this just a fluke knife? Now I'm nervous a bit. Plus I see quite a few for sale lately? Any one else have this issue?

You have nothing to worry about. I dont know the exact video in question but I do know this, 1. Many people think they are knife experts and jack up their own knives after making "corrections" and then blaming the company for not making it idiot proof 2. EVERY Company occasionally puts out a bad knife here or there. I have never heard of a knife company that is flawless. Some come close but non are. The 560 is a very popular model and there arent many reports of "legitimate" issues. Most are personal preference and opinions pushed as facts. 3. KAI has the absolute best warranty of ANY knife company. I have never heard of them denying a warranty claim. If you get the 560 and there is an issues they WILL take care of it. But I would say you have little to worry about. Especially if you got it from a reputable seller.

EDITED TO ADD: I did see the video your talking about. That seems very odd. I have seen one other 0560 video where the lock up failed like that. But if there is only 2 knives out of thousands, thats some good odds. And I dont know any of the people who made the videos or where they got their knives. If the knife was used and someone before him went disassembling the knife and adjusted the lock bar for a weaker detent it could cause that issue. But the lockbar seems to have more than ample engagement. So it may just be one of those knives that slipped through. Still I wouldnt worry about it. KAI will take care of you if you need them to.

I just watched the video of it failing it looks like the tang and the lock bar both have to much angle on them so they just slide apart. I have a 0561 and mine doesn't do that its also the first I have heard of it so maybe it was a 1 off or a very small batch that slipped through QC at ZT

There was another video posted by a putz who kept putting his thumb on the lockbar and flexing it to get the lock to fail. Every time he tried to close with with his thumb off the lockbar, it wouldn't.

Yeah I was skeptical but thought I should get some input. This will be my first ZT knife and I am pretty excited. Thanks for the confidence boost guys!!! I use all my knives so I guess we will see. I spend a lot of time at my camp and in the woods and think this will make a good outdoors knife.

I just ordered a ZT0561 about 2 weeks ago, mine came prestine. I could not find anything wrong with it at all. If I HAD to say something it would be breaking in the detent to make it extra buttery. Grab one, you will love it! Ser. No. 5341
