ZT 0561- might be a little thick for me

I've been carrying my ZT 0561 this week. I do normal stuff- open packages cut bananas, etc. This week I tried slicing an apple. It is not good for that, probably too thick. Now I have to do a whole comparison survey with my other blades. I'm not sure how my other blades will work for this, I remember long ago trying to slice apples with thin bladed traditionals, even thin bladed paring knives and that didn't work real well either. Maybe slicing an apple isn't a good test.

I'm not going to stop carrying the 0561, and I also just got a Benchmade 760 which has a fairly thick blade.

A knife should be able to slice an apple, though the ZT may be too thick for it.
You may need to try another knife.
Maybe you need a semi-thick blade that's good at slicing but not too thin or thick?
I'm not sure.

The ZT's are bricks of knives. Something that's FFG or thinner behind the edge would work best for slicing.

A survey? Haha just like a knife nut... i love the thickness it makes me want to stab things :D

A sharp knife should slice anything - shouldn't it?

My ZT's, including my 560, did not come with particularly sharp blades. I have sharpened the 550 and 560 but am a little hesitant to touch the recurved blades.

That said, I have yet to cut an apple with my 560. :o

You couldn't get a paring knife to slice an apple? I dunno about that but my ZT is too thick to take slices off the apple too. Breaks it in halves or 1/4's just fine though. There's always gotta be a compromise.
