Hey guys. New to the forum. I was really interested in pulling the trigger on a zt 0562. Just wanted some of you guys opinions on it. My real hesitation is the pocket clip. It just seems like it might be too deep if that makes sense. It seems like it might be hard to extract. Seeing as how I can't seem to find one in a store near me I can't hold one to see. I was just curious of what you guys that have one or a played with one think about it in general but specifically the pocket clip. Thanks a lot guys.

I love it. The clip doesn't get in the way and is very comfortable in use. The pocket retention is great. The only way I've found it less than a great fit is in pockets where the cut meets the side seam at a hard angle (straight slash as opposed to a swooping cut). I suppose shallow pockets may not like it, either. I guess the moral of this story is to not wear low riding skinny jeans.

As for retrieval... Here's what I have on the last standoff, as worn in my work pants:

I've owned one since November. I don't mind the deep carry clip. I have never had a problem getting it in or out of my pocket. I've warn it in jeans, cargo, dress, and tactical style pants (5.11 tac light pros). It has always been in my right front pocket since the day that I got it. The knife itself is extremely comfortable in the hand and during use. The Elmax is great, mine was shaving sharp from the factory and from all the stuff I've put it through I've only touched it up once on my 3k grit stone (not because it lost the working edge, because it couldn't shave as easily as before :D).

I don't have a problem with mine. The clip itself is sort of grippy due to the finish, and with the g10 on the other side, there's no problem with extraction.

I really like the clip overall. It has weaker tension compared to other ZT clips, which makes it easy to slide the clip right onto your pants. It goes on and off with one hand, no holding your pocket while you struggle to unclip the knife. I noticed a small amount of side to side play but after using loctite on the screws, it gained a ton more rigidity and doesn't wiggle unless you start yanking it.

I've heard other people mentioning they had problems with the pivot loosening. What are you guys experience with that? Thanks

Thanks. So it still has blade play after tightening the pivot?

Oh I was still referring to the deep carry pocket clip. The blade on the 0562 is bank vault, rock solid. After disassembling it several times, and flipping it thousands..it has no blade play. The clip can sometimes have side to side movement, but I just had to crank down the pocket clip screws a bit further and add loc-tite.

Mine has zero blade play or pivot movement after some less than gentle use.

I own and love both. The 0566 is obviously a little more compact, but the two real differences are assisted open vs non-, and blade thickness.

I slightly favor the 0562.

I really like how the 0562 carries. It's a bit deeper than even most of ZT's other deep carry clips because it actually wraps around the tail end of the handle (as RBid shows in his post above). I've not had any problems pulling it from pocket. My thumb grabs about 1" from the tail of the knife (inside my pocket), and my index finger just pinches on the clip from the opposite side. The clip tension isn't as strong as, say, the 0566, but it still holds the knife securely in pocket. That, combined with the smooth titanium scale, makes the knife pretty smooth to draw from pocket.

As for 0562 vs. 0566... They're fairly different. The 0562 is a bit bigger and beefier. The 0566 is thinner and carries a bit more comfortably. Personally, I like the 0562 better. Here's a pic that shows both a 0562 and 0566:

I wish more ZT's had this version of pocket clip! It's a deep carry, dark-colored, and sexy.

The ZT clips that don't really impress me are the ones on the new 0452CF/0450 series knives, the ones on the 801's, and the ones on the new model 900. I liked the style of these clips when it debuted on the 566, but they just don't seem right on the brand new designs, especially the 450/452's. I wish the new 452CF had a new clip design, the "older" ZT style clip makes it harder for me to like the knife.

There have been a number of replies and this thread has bounced around but I thought maybe I could help with a few questions/concerns.

I have taken a ton of these apart, along with a lot of other ZT's. The fact of the matter is the pivot screw will eventually loosen. For some it happens in a weak and for others it happens after 2 years. You have a lot of parts moving in there and eventually the pivot screw moves too. Once this happens I advise getting some locktite and undoing the pivot screw. You will need 2 T8 Torx Bit Screws to do this properly. It should be easy. When you put it back together, tighten it until the blade sits center. Open the knife one time and make sure there is no side to side play. If it is tight then put the knife down and leave it alone for 24 hours. From here, unless you want to take the knife apart for any reason, it should stay tight for at least a year or more. If your clip has a little wiggle, do the same to the screw on the clip end. This time just tighten it really well but don't strip the screws.

With all of this said I highly advise investing in a decent Torx Bit set. The ones sold at your local hardware stores and wally worlds are typically crap!

The 562 is an awesome knife. It sits great in the pocket, for most is easy to extract and it cuts like a laser.
