Some of you may have read my thread about returning my 940-1 and picking up a ZT 0450CF. I was so impressed by the fit and finish of the 450 that I want to pick up a slightly larger ZT to take the place of my Para 2.

I do like the look of ZT's carbon fiber but find it a bit slippery on my 450CF (maybe because it's thin and less to hold on to). I've almost dropped the knife a few times because of this. For this reason I was gravitating toward the 0562 (S35VN steel) over the 0562CF.

Can anyone chime in how the G10 is on this particular model? On my para 2 the G10 feels like a cheese grater but its super grippy. If the G10 on the 0562 is just as slick as the Carbon Fiber I'd rather have the Carbon fiber. If it's grippier I'd prefer the G10.

Thanks!

The G10 is grippier. Maybe not quite as textured as a PM2, but it’s pretty close to that. The CF version is blasted for a matte finish, so it’s not particularly slippery, but the G10 definitely has more grip.

The PM2's texture is great for grip but it shreds pockets also. I'm still trying to figure out if the 450CF is harder to hold on to because it's thin or is the CF making it more difficult. Maybe a thicker CF handle would be easier to grip no? I'd rather not get the G10 if that's the case.

The 0562 is a framelock so the clip rides on titanium. It wont be shredding any pockets.

I always found the handle of the 0562CF to have a very ergonomic and secure grip. Definitely more hand filling than the 0450. Personally I always preferred the CF version.

But in either case you won’t have to worry about the pocket shredding since the lockside is all titanium.

the 0562 is perfect in G10. S35VN is great, but it is easy to find one in Elmax too if you look, which I find preferable. I had the CF model but never carried it because of the slick CF, and I like the looks of the stonewashed blade over the two tone any day.

My gut says to go with the CF version with the understanding that the handle will be thick enough to grip better.

It's difficult to decide because part of me is agreeing with you but the other part of me wants the blingy CF. Not sure how I feel about the stonewash. I kind of like my blades DLC coated or shiny. Is the CF version both?

I have had the 0562 for quite awhile and part of me has always regretted not getting the CF. So much so that I will probably eventually buy one. I still consider getting one from time to time.

The CF version is definitely my preference. The steel is a significant upgrade.

Blade steel is not my top priority as I do not use a knife every day. Heck, half the time I'm opening an Amazon box with it. I'd be with with anything 154CM or better.

The g10 is markedly grippier and will contribute to heing able to hang onto the knife better.

That said the handle shape of the 562 provides a pretty good shape for you to hold onto. I never had a problem hanging onto my 562cf but I imagine the g10 would still provide some extra traction. Especially when your hand is slippery like covered with grease or something.

I’d agree with this 20CV and CF is more bang for your buck. I’d get it based off that but the Elmax and g10 version would be what I’d really want but I’m a stickler for value get what you like the most

I have the black version with g10 and 20cv and love it- one of my favorite buys this year.

Those grease/mud/blood-coated hand moments really are important to keep in mind. Considering how they happen to most of us like, constantly.:D

Cf version is just satin finish.

I wont worry about the cf scale being too slippery, at all. Its not like when you hold the knife you only use two fingers to pinch the handle. I think cf vs g10 and 20cv/204p vs s35vn/elmax definitely justify the $40 difference, so I would choose 0562cf over 0562. 0562cf also looks better. BTW, the blade on 0562cf is two-tone finish: stonewash on the flat and satin on the rest.

I have an orange G10 0562 and a CF 0562, so here is my two cents:
- The G10 feels good, grippy but not aggressive, it feels more secure in hand especially as a work knife
- The CF looks better, it has an unpolished surface, so it looks matte and it feels non-slippy in hand for the most part, it neither feels nor actually is as grippy as the CF though

What I would do in your position: Get a CF version, see how you like it, getting an aftermarket G10 scale to swap out is pretty straight forward for the model, since it's popular. So you have the improved steel. A scale isn't gonna cost a whole lot, especially since it's just one and in a widely available material.
