I have had a ZT 0561 for over two years now, (one of the first made) and I have been waiting to get my hands on a 0562cf for a while now. I was happy to see one come in on one of our shipments at work. I set it aside to inspect it/ purchase, but after some initial impressions, I am questioning it. Out of the box, the knife had a pretty long scratch down the logo side of the blade (is anybody getting wear on their blade yet? How bad?) and on the serial# side, a half inch of the satin finish on the blade near the tip is "spotty"... almost as if it wasn't polished correctly or not long enough. When deployed, the blade has zero play in any direction and is centered perfectly, but does not feel as smooth in the action as a few new 0560s that we have. It feels "grittier", a sensation that I best describe as almost being able to feel the bearings roll inside the frame. I toyed with the pivot a few times and after loosening it felt much better.. but I lost the blade centering and developed some minor side-to-side blade play. Maybe a detent issue?
Well by this point, I was dead set on not buying it, until I looked in our system and realized there isn't another one in our entire company. We received the only one, with none at our distribution center. I called kershaw to see if I could send it to them and get a replacement piece, and they have ZERO 0562s at their factory. Not even a replacement blade. If history likes to repeat itself, we probably wont see another until late January or February.
Obviously I want it, but what would you guys do?
