I was a at gun show last week, but this time rather than gawk at the guns and looking for deals on ammo, I just wanted to take a look at some of the knives on display. Most of them were disappointing and there also seemed to be a few nice high end (or at least priced as such) but I don't know enough about those to tell whats what. So I looked for the familiar brands Benchmade, ZT, Kershaw etc...
I came across this ZT 0566, although I had seen it on display in at least two other shops in my area I never really handled one. So I ask the guy to let me see it and then I flicked it open, I knew right then and there that this was my new EDC
I immediately liked every aspect of this knife.
Looks: Nothing gimmicky about it, It does not have any fantasy sword curves or tacticool/stealth fighter angles. Form and function fully integrate, every aspect of the knife is there for a reason yet its not minimalistic.
Weight: It's heavy and sturdy. Built solid.
Ergonomics: It fits perfectly in my hand, the G-10 is not too rough or smooth, I can put this in my pocket and get my keys in and out without grinding my knuckels. It has a thin profile but its thick enough for me to grip comfortably.
I know a lot of you here don't like assisted blades, but that is what "Clicked" with me. It has a very nice positive click when you flip it open and this particular one has absolutely no play, wiggle, rattle or any other unwanted movement/sounds. the blade locks solidly in place and was sharp enough to shave a few hairs off my arm right out of the box.
The only negative I could say about it is closing the blade since you are loading a spring while doing so there is some resistance and at first you feel like you have to wrestle it shut.
Its my first ZT and first frame lock but im sold. I would rate this knife a 9.8/10
