Just wanted to hear some pros and cons from people who have owned one or both of these blades. Also, if there's a similar knife you'd like to recommend I'm all ears.

Many thanks, have a good one. -Blu

Both are great EDC knives, very similar in size. I've had two mini commanders; one was silky smooth, the other not so much. The ZT0566 is an excellent blade, the price of admission to obtain an elmax knife is pretty astounding. The mini-comm is a bit too small to be an effective tactical knife, so I'd opt for the ZT. Hope that's helpful.

Whatup, Blu? Just thought I'd chime in. I own both, and figured it would be best to post some pics for ya. Like U2 said, both are great EDC blades. I haven't owned my 0566 for nearly as long as my Mini-Commander, but I can honestly say the ZT takes the win.

For me, it comes down to a few details. The Hinderer drop point is about as good as it gets for EDC tasks, giving me enough belly and a strong point that can handle pretty much anything. My Mini-Commander never let me down, but at times I wish it had a better point for piercing tasks. Speaking of blades, I think the Elmax on the 0566 is awesome. There's absolutely nothing wrong with Emerson's 154CM, but for the prices of these two, I think you get more with the ZT.

The G-10 is great on both models, but I prefer the stainless steel frame lock to the standard Emerson liner lock. That being said, both knives lock up great and exhibit zero blade play. The 0566 is a little heavier, but you don't really notice it in pocket. Ergos are great on both, but the ZT's handle just feels more natural to me. YMMV. Also, the Mini-Commander is a bit thicker due to the G-10 scales over steel/titanium liners. Not sure if that would be an issue with you. It never was for me.

Lastly, I love the flipping action of the 0566. I de-assisted it and after screwing around with it, it fires out just great manually. The quickest way to get my Emerson open is of course using the Wave feature, but there are times when it isn't necessary. You won't go wrong with either, Blu. I hope the pics help give you a better comparison between the two. Keep in mind I wear size M gloves.

I think that, considering the price, the 0566 is a better EDC knife. It has a better blade steel, a proper V edge (the Mini Commander, although ground on both sides, still has a chisel edge), fit and finish will probably be a bit better. Locks are a matter of preference, either will be plenty strong for anything you'll need a pocket knife for.

The Mini Commander does have a very well though out handle and the Emerson wave opening feature.

For EDC, I'd take the 0566.
