I recently rediscovered my ZT 0770 Carbon fiber with Elmax steel , It was in a drawer and I had forgot about it for a year or so. I did some research and discovered it has been discontinued and the prices of these knives have seem to have risen since I bought mine . Is this knife possibly a potential classic knife that is worth keeping because it is going up in value or simply a has been that was never that popular and was discontinued by ZT ?

It's not a valuable knife. Just use use it like any other knife. They made so many of them. Bought mine for way cheaper. Ignore the people selling them for more than they cost. There will always be someone taking advantage of someone else.

The knife hasn’t been discontinued, ZT’s use of Elmax steel has.

I'm a collector (not a dealer). So, IMO the only reason to "keep" a collectible (and I own many) is NOT whether you think it will rise in value or not but simply whether you still "like" it or not.

The 0770 will never rise in value like the 0777 already has because it is not "rare" and is not in high demand because of its rarity. However, the 0770 is a fine knife. I have one just like yours which I like and plan to keep regardless of its valuation. When I do not "like" it anymore that will be the time that I'll sell it for whatever price it is going for at that time.

BTW, I actually prefer carrying the Kershaw Natrix because it is so cheap, yet so similar to the 0770, but that's another matter.

In any event, if you like your recently rediscovered 0770 keep it. If not, sell it and pocket the profit that you can make on it now. Keeping a knife that you do not like on the chance that it may rise in value so that you can make more on it later is pure speculation. You could make more later or you could make less than you could make by selling it now. There's no way to know which will happen later.

As they say, "a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush."

I have a ZT 0770 CF also that sits in the safe. NIB.
But mine is the more rare, harder to find, very limited model in M390 blade-steel.
Mine will go on the block soon, and I hope to recover my original
purchase price.
In general, the model is a strong performer.

I actually think it's one of the best knives that ZT has ever made. Some folks can't abide an AO, but for those who like them or are agnostic, it's a peach of knife.

I deassisted mine. Works just fine, although the detent is a little soft and a hard shake will swing the blade out. No big deal to me, normal use is no concern.

I bought mine new for a decent price, s35vn steel. It's light, feels good, and cuts well. Love the carbon fiber. But I don't think it will appreciate, Mines in the 18000s for serial numbers, so not rare. I'll use it and enjoy it.

Which made me sad. Not that I dislike CPM-S35VN, far from it.

If ZT ever wisens up and made a KVT version, I'd think they would sell a lot more. I love the blade shape.

Agreed. Exactly why I have a beautiful brand new 0770CFM4 up for sale right now.
If it was on bearings I’d be hanging onto it. Nothing wrong with AO, I’ve got a bunch, but I prefer non-AO and non-coated blades.

I love the 0095, but it's an entirely different beast.

Some pics from when I had, size comparison.

I actually miss it a little bit. So lightweight.
