Today while stopping by a local gun show I found a vendor with a bunch of high end knives. I have been interested in picking up a ZT 0777 or 0600 for some time now, but they are hard to find in stock anywhere. The guy had the 0777 in M390 stonewash for $500 and 0600 for $400. I figure I could talk him down a bit if I head back tomorrow. Are these reasonable prices for these two knives or should I take my search elsewhere?

Well both are done with production I believe. The 0600 sell for $380+ so that's not to bad. The 0777 if you want it grab it. Its only gonna be harder to get.

The 0600 is a good price. Most online vendors sold them for $340, so $400 is a real good price. I would check it to make sure there were not any handling marks (scratches), unless you plan to carry it and then it won"t matter!

Depends on your definition of decent :) If you are ZT collector, they might be. Do I think the 0777M390 is worth $500 based only on it's materials and quality as a user knife? Not to me, I had a 0777M390, I didn't feel the build quality and "feel" was worth the price and sold it to a collector that was ecstatic to get it, so everyone won. Make sure you handle it first so you know you are happy with it. My guess is not too many guys are actually using them, I've yet to see one with any visible use on it.

At current secondary market prices the 0600 is a better deal, I'd say average secondary market on the 0777's is in the $475 range so $500 isn't a deal but they've sold higher too, $450 would be a good price. Don't buy it for an investment because it's hard to say if those kinds of secondary market prices will hold, we've already seen the 0888 prices tumbling as of late. Buy it because you love it and have to have it, or you're a collector.

The secondary market for current limited editions is ridiculous right now. I need to buy more pre-orders this year, I could fund my entire knife habit just waiting a few months and flipping them. I'd be willing to bet a lot of guys are doing that already one reason so many 0777s unused are floating around, kinda like spyderco sprints and Hinderers.

I would recommend using the 0777. It's a fantastic edc blade. It's a shame that so many of these quality knives are just safe queens. Definitely try to talk the guy down some, remember that 0777 were originally $380 so you should try to get as close to that as possible.

- I love my ZT0777, but I wouldn't pay $500 for a ZT0777. I think that $380 is a fair price for it. I do use it whenever I have the chance. Life is too short to have safe queens.

To me the prices and how fair they are will all depend on the individual knives. I have seen examples of both that I wouldnt trade my CRKT foresight for. On the flip side I have one of each in my own collection that are very nice. I would look them both over and very very well. On the 777 pay special attention to the stop pin. Ive seen a few that were very crooked. You dont want that when you have so little material holding them in place. The blade is another area to look at under direct light. I have seen a few with some pretty badly scratched blades and some that even have uneven patches where it would appear someone tried to cover odd scratches with the use of a scotch brite pad after being tumbled. On the 0600 I would test its flipping action as I have had 3 and found them to be very inconsistent. One had a very off center blade, another had scratches in the blade not part of the stonewashing process. 2 of the 3 were also not sharp and wouldnt cut paper. Whether a knife is worth it or not is up to the individual. Seeing that those two knives have not found a home yet makes me wonder if there is an issue with them. I would inspect them both very carefully and determine what you are comfortable with price wise. Those prices are reasonable considering current going rates but for me its only a deal if the knives are pristine.

Saw one 888 go for $3500

There were 2 that listed for over $3000. I for one don't believe for a second that they actually sold for the advertized price. There were others listed at the same time that went for 1/3 that price.

Regarding the ZT 0888 selling price, other than those $3K anomalies back in November when they first started selling, they're currently selling on average for around $1,050. I think once people realize that only about 200 were made the price is bound to go up.

They have sold at their peak upwards of $1200 the last couple I've noticed were not moving at $900 still stupid priced but if people are willing to pay it....

One just sold on the bay for $1200. Seems like the values might be creeping up, not down.

With only 212 to 216 total made IMO I can't see the values doing anything but going up.

Secondary Market 0888 pricing was sky high upon release, came down a bit after the rush and is now leveling off..........

And once the seller pays fees on that he'll be lucky to clear $1000. It's obvious you think they will continue to appreciate but there's tons of 250 price limited editions from various makers that do not continue to climb in price as well. If some wants to pay $1200 for a production knife good for the seller.
