I have been debating on getting either a zt 0801 or a
Reate horison b. I have heard great things about both and wanted to hear other peoples opinions.
Thanks!

I personally would get the Reate. I like the style better which is completely personal preference. I dont like how you can see the bearing housing (blue plastic washer) in the ZT when it is open. It seems unfinished. The build quality I would say is about the same with (again just my opinion) yet the finishing quality I have to give that to reate. Either knife I think will perform just fine. I think it should come down more to what you prefer as far as looks go as they both spec out pretty closely.

I would have said ZT 100% before handling a Reate, now I really couldn't tell ya.. Either one wouldn't be a bad choice. The ZT will be easier warranty wise to take care of and has a great track record. Reate is to early to tell but there debuts are pretty great.

So yeah go with either one and you'll be happy.

Horizon-B has an almost half inch bigger blade. Comparable steels and flipper action. Milling on the Reate is really nice. Price about the same. Warranty/CS goes to ZT. No bad decision either way.

Crazy how far the Chinese have come. To think a question like this could go either way.

Ive got both of them,so my problem is solved.I don't think it matters where a product like Reate is made, its as good if not better than knives made here. I sold my ZT550 & 560 and replaced them with a reate horizon and a district 9.I have over 70 folders, only 3 or 4 are made in china,i don't think I hurt the U.S.economy by getting these knives.I did just get a zt0200 stonewash yesterday,too...

I have an 0801; love it. Have handled the Reate Horizon A and B and the Hills on passarounds (and will be checking out the District 9 soon), and I think that they are all fantastic. You can't go wrong with any of them, in my opinion.

I had the Horizon A in the passaround while I had my 801 and the 801 was better by far. The Horizon is a nice knife, but the ZT was just nicer. Blade shape was more utilitarian, it fits the hand better, and the detent was literally the best I have ever seen... Ever. If the 801 I had cost me $300 (and you couldn't find them for about $150 used) I wouldn't have been that mad. If the pocket clip would have been titanium matched to the handles, the knife would have been perfect in every way.

Just DONT buy any made in CHINA garbage.

Saying something is garbage simply because its made in china is about as ignorant as saying something is high quality only because it is made in the USA. Why cant quality just be quality?
