Alright guys and gals, I will try to make this is concise and well articulated as possible!

So last May I received my zt0801cf and loved it. Its mostly been my EDC since that time, with a few others thrown in the mix. Anyway, over time it was developed some blade play and then I tighten it via the male portion of the pivot. Now, after flipping it and closing the knife after a while the female portion of the pivot begins to turn thus loosening the pivot altogether and developing blade play again. Today I finally decided to do something about it and bought some lub and some loctite and now the same issue is occurring. There is no sweet spot, its either too tight and the blade will not flip open or its too loose and the pivot turns and there is blade play.

In case you are wondering about my exact methods I will tell you. I decided to try about a gun oil, usually I never need lube for the knives I buy so this is a first for me. And I'm sure it was not the oil/lube many of you would prefer but it was convenient as it was in the store and I was trying to solve this problem today. Anyway, the oil was M-Pro 7 Gun Oil LPX, and the loctite was your standard Blue 242 Loctite. I put lube in the bearing pockets(?) and the area of the blade in which the pivot goes through the blade. I put loctite on the titanium portion of the female side of the pivot and on the threads of the male portion. Before applying the lube and the loctite I thoroughly cleaned the knife as to make sure it was a blank slate in order to give me a well functioning and hard firing flipper, however this was not what happened.

I have taken apart many many knives and none have been as finicky as this one. It just will not cooperate with me.

Sorry for the lengthy post, but do you guys have any suggestions of ideas about what I can do to eliminate the blade play and still have a smooth and solid lockup and flip? Thanks!

Hello,

Have you let the Blue Loctite "fully" cure for the recommended 24 hours? Also, if that doesn't work, I suggest using some Plumbers/Thread Seal Tape. It usually comes in the little round white and blue plastic spool, sold at Home Depot, Lowes, and such. This is what I use on all of my folders pivots, and it works great!

Hope this helps you with your endeavor :-).

I would only use the loctite on the threads...and be careful using lube around loctite as it will keep the loctite from doing its job....if all else fails, send it back, they will fix it up

Yea...I tried just about everything and its not getting better. I just filled out a warranty claim and will be sending it in tomorrow. Sucks because I love that knife but when I get it back it should be flawless!
