SO this past week I found myself in a unique position to help out a fellow forum member who needed to sell the majority of is collection in a hurry. I was able to pick up a NIB ZT 121 and a 1660GRYST. Recently i also purchased a 1660TSW which was my first leek. so i thought it appropriate to switch blades to see how the contrast of a polished stainless handle looked on the chromium nitride coated blade and how the stonewashed blade looked on the chromium nitride handle.

here are some pics. Enjoy.

i bought one of those cheap RAM Kydex neck sheaths for the leek as well and i gotta say for a sub $5 item it works quite well tip up or tip down. sorry, no pics of that today

Great pics! How do you like the 121? Is there enough handle to get your hand around? I really like the looks of that knife and I want one when I get the chance. Looks like it would be an ideal concealed fixed carry!

I'm trying to figure out that sheath on the 121. Does it allow for horizontal carry? What about at a slight tilt, like Dozier does with his sheaths. Anyway, it looks like nothing I'm familiar with. Is it stock with the knife?

I removed original belt attachment and replaced it with a TEK-LOC I happened to have from other knife. Meaning I can wear it in a horizontal/vertical/at a slant position. But if the sheath had a glove-like quality with clear fixation of the knife I would carry it tip up for easier access from under the hem of the coat.

That makes it much more appealing to me, with Tec-lok allowing multiple configurations. I prefer cross-draw with a slight upward cant, or horizontal at small of back.

Cool!

sorry, new to kershaw. I like a lot of the products, but I haven't found one that has had "everything" yet. That leek though, what is that a combination of? I really like the Random Leek, but I don't like serrations. That looks like a random leek, but I can't find the blade you used. Please help, I'd love to do the swap.

it was the new KS1660TSW. it is considered to be a plane edged random leek in the new 14c28n sandvik steel in the stonewashed finish. the handle is from the regular random leek (chromium nitride coating).

thanks,

Matt

Well Slade, you just made Kershaw a sale. I like the coloring of the random leek with the nitride coating better, but like I said, can't do serrations. Not sure if I'll do the swap, but wow, first Kershaw that has everything I look for. My KS1660TSW should be here Wednesday from NGK. Thanks again for the post.
