I have an awesome ZT301 that i got here on the exchange and i love it!
BUT the ti rips my pockets so, ill sand it down and polish the handle scale.

Never done it before, Ive sanded and anodized a salt pocket clip and it wasn't the easiest thing to do. So if you have any pointers id like to hear em. i plan on using sand paper to start and a fine dremel head to get in all the nooks to sorta polish it up. what do you guys think!

EDIT: ah damn shoulda posted this in Maintenance, Tinkering & Embellishment
mods if you wanna move me go for it. if not same difference i guess.

I'm a little confused, but that is nothing new. Are you asking about sanding the G-10 sacle or the Ti side? Regardless, the process is almost the same for me. The only difference is when sanding G-10, wear a mask. Nasty stuff. The disposable paper ones from the hardware store work fine.

For both the Ti and G-10, I've used 3M 1000 grit silicone carbide wet paper. Take the knife apart, and sand with water. It doesn't take long, and the results are nice. On the Ti slab, be careful not to alter the face of the lock. And I've never had to use a Dremel. Both the Ti and G-10 sand down easily.

And you're right! This should have been in MT&E!

I meant the Ti side. Thanks for the input, ill buy the sandpaper tomarrow and find the tool to take the pivot out... ill let you know how it goes via pics

While you have it apart, polish the liners, and don't forget to put a small dab of grease in the torsion bar cavity. Keeps it from rattling and helps slick it up. And make sure it's open before you take it apart.

will do. thanks.

I sanded and polished my 301. Used a dremel/wire wheel to remove the coating then buffed everything. Turned out way to shiney for me. I ended up sanding the texture completely off both sides and blasted the Ti side. There's pics in the customized production thread.

I just used a fine grit file and gently removed all the sharp edges. That was enough to stop pocket damage.
