ZT 301 pivot Question

What does the pivot hex head adjust nut do? Does it have anything to do with the speedsafe operation? In other words if I loosen it will it open quicker? Mine is a little lazy opening. I don't want to learn the hard way on this knife.

Yes it'll make it quicker, you won't need to loosen it to much to make a difference.

Mine is a little lazy opening.

The 0300/301/302 are slower openers than the 0350 models due to the weight of the blade. My 350 opens much faster than my 0301 so that's normal.

What would be a good oil to use around the pivot. ZT refers to machine oil but I've seen some brands cause some problems like metal staining and gumming the pivot. Right now I use Rem oil with teflon on all my other knives but I use it very lightly. 3 in 1 oil has always been Ok then turns into a lint magnet plus a blade stainer. The ZT 301 has been around long enough so I figure one of the mechanics must have narrowed down the choices. Please share with me.
