Hey guys,

I got a ZT 302 and it's a really sweet knife except it has this annoying a little rattle when in the blade out position. It locks up solid, has no loose scales or clip and the AO works perfectly. The sounds seems to have something to do with the AO design. Has anyone else encountered this or have any idea what it may be. thanks

I just checked a couple of my other Kershaw AO's and they also have a little rattle to them (although not nearly as loud), I guess it is normal like Cotherion said.

Perfectly normal. At opened position the spring is not under any load/force so it rattles. Perfectly fine.

Don't worry, you've got a sweet blade that shines in it's performance.

You might want to give them a call. I don't think a $250 knife should rattle. That torsion bar is loaded heavily when closed because of the size of the blade it has to move so when there isn't any tension it would be loose, but I don't think it should rattle. You should store it open when you are not edcing it

Just take it apart and add something like white lithium/ lightning... A little grease in the torsion chamber will stop it from rattling.. It is just a characteristic of the torsion bar.. When its open, there is no load on it..
Doesnt matter if its a 40$ model or a 200$ model... Some just need a little gunk in there...

I had the same thing on my 300. After doing some searching I found that it's normal.

It is normal, that's how the torsion bar works. No, you do not need to send it in. Yes, you can fix it by putting some lithium grease in the torsion bar cavity.

My 0300 used to rattle, and I fixed it in the matter of a few minutes.

Everyone but 'Socom Elite' is correct. I have had my 301 for over a year and that rattle can be fixed as easy as the others have said. Great choice of knife! The 301 has been my go to blade for quite some time, now you only have one problem... resisting the 350 in a month!!!:D
