Looking for a new EDC. Is the 393 a thicker blade for heavy use or more of a slicer etc? Really like the looks of it. Thanks in advance. If not what ZT do you recommend similiar in blade style and quality in 3 to 3 1/2".

The 0393 is on the heavier side I believe, just looked it up, 5.00oz. Being a spanto grind, and the weight, I wouldn't say it's a slicer.

0393 is a thicker heavier blade. If you want something slimmer, the 0609 may be an option.

I wouldn't call it a heavy use knife, of course that term is so subjective that it's redundant. I don't think any folder is a hard use knife. It slices decently, of course any stupidly sharp knife will slice. A thin blade is the best slicer. For normal use, the 393 will be fine and serve you a long time.
I'd say if it appeals to you, buy one. The G10 covers are being discontinued and are being offered at close out prices, the prices on them are as cheap as they've ever been.

Where is the closeout on the g10 covers happening?

After looking for a while, that's what I started to think as well. But I didn't even know that they do make different panels for them.

They're replacing the G10 covers with Carbon Fiber, hence the G10 covers are being discontinued and discounted. The new model is the 0393GLCF

I would put the 393 in the heavy use category. If you want a slicer, maybe the 450/460 series? Blade is thinner and more belly.

As for quality, ZT does well across the board for the price imo.
