I really like this knife, but it has a detent from hell. I can hardly get it to flip open. The knife is new. Wonder if it will get any better? I have been trying to open and closing it a lot.

It's got a strong detent, for sure, but are you putting any pressure on the lockbar when you are trying to flip it open?

Is it too stiff or too weak?

I agree you might be putting pressure on the lockbar, especially on a small knife like that. Alot of tomes that is what it is.

If it is simply too stiff even though you are not putting pressure on the lockbar then itnshould wear in and get abit smoother over time.

If it is truly nuts to the point you can hardly open it then send it in.

As Timmy said, keep the fingers off the lock bar. This is very easy for a lefty like me with only a thumb on that side.

It will break in nicely over a few days/weeks depending on your flipping addiction level. The 90 degree edge of hole on the blade will get slightly rounded and the detent gets wonderful. I have been carrying a large 21 and a 781 Anthem for months. Strangely, I had my 0450 today! Awesome knife no matter what your collection contains!

^^^So much this!

Pardon the crappy photo, but make sure you are resting your fingers on the clip, not the lockbar. Index on flipprt tab, middle in the scoop of the clip, the rest trailing.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

ETA: The clip should rest on the non-lockbar portion of the scale. They have been known to migrate.

I may be pushing a little on the lock bar. Thanks for all the good info. I really like this smaller ZT.
