Hi All, I have a 560 that I sent in to KAI awhile back for vertical play. The knife had only been carried a few times and never really used. So I got the knife back recently and KAI replaced the Ti side completely. The problem is, the knife still vertical play, and perhaps even more. It makes an audible "click" when I pull the blade back and forth.

I have nothing but good things to say about KAI and their warranty department, and don't want to bother them with extra workload by sending my knife in again, so I guess what I am wondering is am I just being picky or is this something I should send the knife back in for? It doesn't really bother me if it won't affect the performance and safety of the lockup now and in the future. Also, I am not bashing the company, I love pretty much everything they put out and feel they are top notch in every regard.

Send it back....imho. kai has a super warranty and you are paying for that when you buy their products.

Thanks guys. I was hoping to hear from one of the KAI forum regulars as I read these forums a lot, and sticktodrum, you were one I had in mind. Your 801 review forced me to buy one...

I feel your pain when something comes back from warranty and its not perfect. But such as life the guys who work the warranty department are human too. Like it was said though they will get it right and when they do you will be glad you sent it in again. Hope it all gets worked out for you.

Everyone is going to recommend the same thing, send it in. Include a note explaining why it's being sent back and why you are not happy.

Communication is the key to satisfaction.

Make sure the note you send along with the knife is very clear about what you find the problem to be.

I've seen some folks send knives back without including an accurate description on the problem, expecting the CS people to figure it out for themselves.

As with all things, clear communication is essential.

I sent in my 561 with a detailed note explaining what my issue was. They sent my knife back and all the issues were addressed and they also included said note in the return package.

Well thank you, I appreciate the kind words.

Word. A couple times, I would call Kai and speak to Steven in the warranty department, and tell him what was going on. He saw my 0550 like three times, the last time was my fault. :)

Hope it works out for ya, I have little doubt it will. :)

Thanks for the recommendations guys, I sent it back with a note so all is well. Now I will have to buy another ZT in the meantime to replace my 560. That's the rule right?

I disagree, buying another ZT to fill that 0560 void temporarily definitely requires an 0801. Maybe I just think that because my 0801 made me forget about my 0560 though? ;)

The 0801 is that good eh? I am floored by my 0560, but keep hearing good comments on the 0801 as equal to or better as well.

OP: I'm glad to hear ZT took care of the issues you were having so quickly. Enjoy your blade.

Well, the new girl always gets extra looks, but so far I'm loving the 0801. Elmax isn't my favorite thing in the world, but I'm not a steel snob enough to worry about that considering how awesome the thing is otherwise. I do still wish it were a little lighter, but damn what a knife . . .

It's a good thing you caved before he had to come to your house and make you an offer you couldn't refuse. :D
